My husband was very skeptical about what he was going to experience dealing with the VA system but the staff, doctors, administrative staff has been MARVELOUS at the Birmingham location. It has been a GREAT experience. We wish more vets experienced our experience throughout the country.
Personally I think this is a great VA hospital..my personal experience had always been great. Great staff..VA is a give and take process. If you do what you are supposed to do they do what they are supposed to do. Thanks VA B'ham..love y'all!!!!
Thank you all so much for taking care of my Daddy while he was there with you. He passed away there on the 13th of July, in the CCU. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses who took care of him.

Dr. Barren has been taken away and now I havent had a Doctor is 6 months...He made me appointments for any specialist I needed but now the NURSE they want me to see either cant or wont address my problems...I think the vaclinic has lost its focus.....I NEED TO SEE A REAL DOCTOR NOT A NURSE PRACTIONER.
The VA OSAC and supposedly psychiatric teams are the worst in the world. I am a veteran and I would not be caught dead in this hospital.
My husband is a WWII veteran who has NEVER recvd anything other than the BEST care at the VA/Bham and CBOC in Gadsden/Rainbow City. Sure there are problems getting past the "front desk personnel" at the CBOC, and they can be very rude and impersonal. It would be great to be greeted with a "Good Morning" and a smile, instead of looking up at you with facial expressions akin to "what the heck do you want, I'm busy". Nov 6,2012 my husband had a pacemaker put in it was very hard for my children or myself to get updates my granddaughter threw a fit at the person behind the desk so they finally after he had been supposibly had been surgery at 630 am it was now 800 am we got back there and he was waiting his turn still so we go back out and wait cause 4 of us or even 1 of us there wasn't enough room....so by1030 his nurse came out said he did good and we could come back bout 1 hr so we waited and went back and OMG his chest was all splotches... read more
