They have always treated me with respect, no long waits for appointments. I was signed right up, I have an 8.00 co-pay for meds. I have never had a bad experience at the Birmingham VA.
The Birmingham V. A. has given me excellent care. The doctors that I have take a great concern in my care. The people in the 2c & 2b clinics are concerned and compassionate. There are times that not everything goes as planned but that also happened when I went to outside doctors. Thank you too all the people at the V. A.
My Dr called in sick t 7am. I had an appointment at 9am. They called me at 8:30 to tell me. That would have been ok if I lived in Birmingham, but I live in Cullman 60 miles away. I was already at the VA. And what's even better no travel pay. The VA in Birmingham is getting very bad. Mitchell Maddox

I took my boyfriend to the VA on Saturday we for their at 1:15 pm we sat in the waiting room until after 6pm before we ever got to the back once he was taken back we waited again just to see the only Dr the had in the ER by the time they ordered pain medicine and a ct scan it was over three hours before he got anything our total time of being in the ER was 12 hours we moved here from Indiana and our VA back home we never waited or got treated like we did here they ended up giving him to much morphine and bottomed out his blo... read more
New management is needed. They're slow as fuck. Been here going on 9 hours waiting for my dad. You'd think they'd better at it since they're treating our veterans. People who served to protect them.
I had an good experience, however bathrooms were nasty. I was able to get in ahead of my appt schedule which was great since I drove 3 hrs to get there. Very friendly nurses and doctors.
While I'm glad the VA has stepped up in helping our vet's, I'm totally disappointed in how I was treated. I was told by the doctor that after my husbands procedure it would be only one hour till I could see him and it ended up being more like 2 1/2. All the other wife's and family member where taken back to see that their loved ones where well and I wasn't.
