I haven't been to the Birmingham VA in about 20 years, and I was dreading it. This place was awesome. They made all the right improvements and made me feel proud to have such an outstanding VA hospital in my hometown. Update: I had given the VA a 5 star but things changed when I went to the Gold Clinic. The front desk employees looked at me and treated me like an idiot. A lot of blocking and interference to get what was prescribed, approved and needed.
The women's clinic covered all possible bases of my healthcare. I don't think I've ever received so much attention to my health at any other doctor. I also found out about some new programs for nutrition & weight loss among other things. I was in and out of the clinic in just over an hour. Sure beats the 4+ hours I usually spent before the clinic existed.
The Birmingham VA is a wretched place. They are unorganized, unprofessional and could care less about these veterans. It is heartbreaking to believe our government allows their employees to herd people in like cattle only to be a number and that the men and women who fought for our freedom that allowes them to have these jobs are ungrateful and unappreciative.
I thank God I do not have to come here myself. I have to bring my dad here and almost always have problems here every time. This time he came to the emergency room. He got here about 4pm. Finally got to the back about 8 pm. Was seen by the dr pretty quick and taken for a CT scan pretty quick. He's being admitted and was told they had him a room but it had to be cleaned that it could be 15 min to an hour about 3 hrs later we got to the room at 2:45 am. What takes so long to clean a room?
