My 87 year old mother took her dog to Banfield in La Jolla for a dental cleaning. The office claimed she had no appointment but told her to leave the dog and they would work him in. She returned and was told they suspect heart trouble and to return the following week to have a specialist perform tests. She was suspect because he recently had a checkup. We had a puppy. We signed up for their wellness plan in ****. Then we gave the puppy too are son. But before we did we had him fixed. So I know we were going to pay for his procedure. This facility is a complete joke! First of all no one told me it was a contract for a whole year, secondary they just told me that "they don't have to legally notify me when bills are due" I've received no email and it never showed up on my pets page about a past due balance. This is completely absurd way to treat customers. They don't have reviews open or on on ****** either, they don't want people to know this information!

They dont deserve any stars Takes months to schedule a simple appointment. They force me to renew plans for 2 of the 3 plans I have with them.Back in June I scheduled the teeth cleaning for the three of my dogs.One day before its suppose to be done Im called and told that theres no doctors that will be in to do it and that I have to reschedule ; and by rescheduling I will be put on a list for stand by for AFTER January.Im forced to take my dogs to a actual veterinary if something occurs or happens since vets have appointment... read more

My dog passed away on Tuesday and I called to cancel my optimum wellness plan that I was paying $65.99/month for 6 months, they were telling me to cancel and for it not to auto-renew in April I had to pay $396 to avoid charges for the next 6 months. I would have been fine paying it off if my dog would have received all the services that was part of the plan. They will continue to charge you even after your pet is deceased. If you wish to cancel they charge a premium. They claim it as part of their policy however it is not disclosed explicitly at the time service is agreed on.

I just phoned Banfield to advise that my cat had passed away. The representative spent an undue amount of time expressing sympathy over my cat's death. At the conclusion he stated I would need to continue three month's payment in order for Banfield to collect sufficient funds to cover costs. I asked to speak to a supervisor or a corporate representative and he clearly had instructions to dissuade customers from this request. I tried to cancel on website and was unable to do so. My cat was having issues eating so I brought him over to my local Banfield clinic. He has been a Banfield patient for 15 yrs. I had give him ********** to calm him , dropped him off at 9am.
