Was treated like my mother treated me growing up, recommend to anyone, have a lot of confidence in the VA B'ham
The doctors can't tell a kidney stone from cancer. I have a long list of unacceptable reasons NOT to use this VA.
Being a veteran and retired military service member I didn't expect a whole lot from this VA medical center but what I actually experienced was so bad that I had to write this review. I had to see a podiatrist in Birmingham at the VA location that I went to the last time. I signed in at the little kiosk and had a seat. The VA Birmingham actually shocked the heck out of me... Often we see how mistreated veterans are. Today i had an endoscopy, the staff were super friendly and their professionalism was top notch. After my endoscopy i was given a sandwich and fruit cup with choice of beverage, every hospital ive had an endoscopy at before would never give food, yiu were lucky to get a drink. The only negative i could find was how outdated the waiting room and pre op areas felt. But the positivity truly outweighs the negatives! Im so grateful ... read more
Excellent staff, and administration. Great care for our Veterans.
This was the most horrible experience I have ever had at a hospital. Horrible, awful, rude!!! My dad is 84 a Korean War vet. After the ER nurse, Sharon Webster, yelled at me in front of my dad and another patient and after the triage nurse, who was very nice and helpful, told us a room was ready and they were taking my dad back, they left us sitting for about 6 hours without checking on my dad one time. There is no doubt this nurse, Sharon Webster, ... read more
Very professional treatment.
The Birmingham VA uses Residents and Professors of UAB Medical Center Medicine for doctors. They are usually high quality but every case, doctor, and the patient is different. I trust the VA Hospital and the people working there are kind and professional. The tests are done in a way that it can be shared with all areas of the Hospital on the same day. Pharmacy is fast and efficient. The Computer system is worked in a way that every part of the hospital can share information. If you are an Honorable Discharged Vet it is a ben... read more
