It's amazing how a person volunteers their life for a country and the VA wants to take more time. WHAT THE HELL is wrong with this system?!?!?!?! The ER is a joke. scheduling is a joke. any appointment takes over a month. These men and women have already given so much of their life for our country. WHY DOES THE VA FEEL THAT IT NEEDS MORE?!?!?!?! Except for the pharmacy. They're great. lol
The radiology department is horrible, told I have to wait 2 weeks for an mri, asked about community care mri, and said they can't do that. I decide to do a walk in, get there at 8 am and the reception staff tell me walk in is not allowed for an mri, I persist on waiting and then they threaten me that I may be waiting til 8pm. 😂 OK bring it... 6 hours later, I still sit, waiting for the staff to see me, haven't moved, not even to eat food. The staff in reception is 5 women and seem to do more talking, gossiping and chit chat... read more
My dad had the tremor procedure in July! Everyone here has been so friendly and helpful! He has had such a positive experience! Our team, Dr Guthrie and our NP Constance Coats-have been amazing! So thankful for all of the team who have helped him and reassured us through this long process. Today he gets the system turned on! He is so excited! Thanks for being there for him! We are blessed and so thankful for the Birmingham VA!!
Great Staff that helps their veterans receive excellent care.
seems to be a wonderful environment.
Scheduling appointments is disastrous. A three minute hold time took 20 minutes. Our Vets deserve better. Give them the best!
Birmingham VA is a disgrace to our veterans and a complete joke. After arriving to the ER with my husband who has clearly broken his hand he was taken into triage timely we then waited on an X-ray which when he was in the restroom and I advised the nurse she then proceeded to note the chart that he had left come to find out. After being here for now 6 hours with only 4 people ahead of us. After being in excruciating pain he talked to a nurse and asked how much longer and was completely disrespected by the nurse telling him t... read more
As a disabled Vet. I get my medical care via the VA Hospitals and Clinics. I relocated to the Birmingham area back in February but had not needed medical attention until I was bitten by a Brown Recluse on my upper inside thigh. I drove myself to the Birmingham VA Medical Center ER at 04:30AM, and was immediately taken in to the ER triage area where the staff of Nurses and Attending Doctors took excellent, Top Shelf care of me. While there, they set me up with a Primary Care Physician for follow ups and reissued all the meds ... read more
