The new parking deck is great. The shuttle service was fast, friendly and efficient. The new VA hospital is much nicer than before. Great job on all the improvements!
I had two heart stents put in yesterday and stayed overnight. The staff were all friendly and helpful. BUT...this morning I had some type of episode. My heart rate shot up when I would sit up or stand. The Dr said I was dehydrated??? Two iv bags of fluid later they sent me home. I admit I felt fine then. On the 1.5 hour drive home I had a much more severe episode. But no ER for 50 miles. Fortunately the attack subsided. I'm in bed at home now wondering what's next.
They have always been so caring and helpful. We have use them for a lot of surgeries and always been treated great.
Staff is very friendly & care for loved ones are very exceptional! The only problems that I can complain about are; No coffee in surgery waiting room. The vending machines (drinks) in surgery waiting room, was either not working or empty! Need more seating in waiting room. More communication between staff, example; was told to wait on 3rd floor, then wait on 5th floor but then was told needed to be on 3rd floor, then again told should be waiting on the 5th floor. Seemed to be that they couldn't make up our minds where we sho... read more
I have been receiving my care at the Birmingham VA for about 6 years. I've not been an inpatient, but I've had 2 outpatient surgeries, MRIs, CAT scans, X-rays, eye and hearing exams, lab work, and many M.D. exams. Not once have I had to wait more than a week to be seen, except when it was my choice, and I've had no emergency occasions. Without exception, the staff, the nurses, the doctors, and the technicians have been exemplary. I have always been treated with caring, expertise, and with a very pleasant attitude. I know som... read more
The staff here have been super helpful and friendly. Not just the ones the ones that come into your room but each one you pass in the hall. Hard to say you 'enjoyed' your hospital stay but they all made it most tolerable! Thank you!
I'm a disabled veteran with 23 1/2 years of active service. I'm impressed with the effort the staff at the Birmingham VA puts forth to ensure the veterans/patients are serviced in as timely manner as possible. Most doctors are very thorough and seem to genuinely care about your concerns. The shuttle service is EXCELLENT.
My husband has received excellent care at the Birmingham VA Medical Center. We have had minimal waiting and very prompt appointment times. These services have greatly improved during the past few years. Some of the BEST Doctors we have ever had the pleasure of trusting his care to. Thank you so much for your facility.
Tuscaloosa and Birmingham VA Medical Centers are the nation's best, according to the way I have been treated. Even better with the new parking deck and faster transit to/from it.
