I had the worst experience and am choosing a new Dr. After I went into the adult care urgent care I was told they didn't have any appointments until 7:30. My chooses were that the Er or new urgent care facilities. I took the Er because it was in the same building. I waited 4 hours only for the Er dr to tell me nothing is broken and you don't need emergency surgery so call your dr for a referral. Currently sitting in the ER and have been here 7 hours and counting. We are awaiting a medical team (which is somewhere upstairs) to give a final approval for my 86 year old mother's admission. At this point I am hoping to see this actually happen by the 10 hour mark. This experience is an abysmal reminder that Umass has not addressed their sloppy management issues. The nurses are wonderful just not enough of them. This hospital is a great disappointment.
Waiting for 3 1/2 hrs with chest pains not breathing and someone with a sprained foot goes in before me... awesome prioritizing ...NOT.

Umass hospital is a fucking joke! What the fuck is wrong with nurses?! I checked what was wrong with mom MUCH MORE accurately than that damn "nurse" 7th floor ICU is the only respectable unit!
The CF Clinic there is exceptional in their level of care for adults with Cystic Fibrosis. As an inpatient, we are placed in the Neurology Recovery Unit, called 4 East. This keeps us away from the germs and possible infections floating around in the hallways of any respiratory units. We also get refrigerators in our rooms, automatic private room with contact precautions, and the ability to eat as much as we want and stock those fridges.
