Poorly operated due to mismanagement thus resulting in the highest cost per patient of any hospital in the region as a " not for profit " institution. And some of the lowest scoring in overall patient care. Yet other profit based hospitals that pay taxes can result in lower cost to the patient, and far better scores in the overall healthcare of the patient.
Great ed, great nursing, but the Doctors on the floors suck. They have no compassion and don't care how much you suffer from Pancreatitis. Which is one of the most painful things you can go through equal to child birth.
I will never go to this hospital again. Even if it was the only one within a hundred mile radius.
Ellie the nurse............made my 3rd surgery (in 10 months) so much better......no she didn't have anything to DO with the sugery.. but the care..........smile.. I was hospitalized twice before my surgery and had her all THREE times......heart of gold.... we chatted about Taylor Swift concert that I was taking my daughter to. Real human being.............loved her!
My mother came into the hospitals around 10:30am on 7/8/2015, with gallstones and pancreatic infection and is still waiting for a room and it is now 11:20am on 7/9/2015. Is there something wrong with this picture? She should not have to wait over 24 hours to get a bed! This is absurd! The hospital is responsible to bring adequate care to its patients, but that is where they are lacking. Maybe if she had lots of money, this would go another way? The both floors 4 for my fiance an 5 for my son were great to them both since they are here at the same time ! But my son is here for seizures an when the pca went to do his vitals he banged his head an she just continued to do his vitals an didn't even see if his head was okay an then to make matters worse when I said something she acted like it wasn't a serious matter an said it happens every day an then I told her she should have checked on him she gave me a attitude an on the way out of his room told me to shut up.
Great service and people there. Little or no waiting at the arthritis and joint center and spine center.
The Weight Center is wonderful!! Very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. 5 star healthcare for sure. The surgeon I had for my WLS (Dr. John J Kelly) and his team were wonderful!! Dr. Kelly is very knowledgeable, attentive and helpful, a real asset to UMASS. I would definitely recommend UMASS to anyone, as I have nothing but great things to say about it.
