I really like the concept of Griddy and am satisfied overall but there are a few big pitfalls. 1. The verbiage on the real time pricing needs to be more transparent. Griddy states that you pay the “real time” wholesale price of electricity, which changes every 5 minutes and is billed every 15 minutes. What is NOT made clear on their website is that Texas Smart Meters only track usage in increments of 15 minutes. Example: At 12 pm you have the A/C running full blast and the p...Continue Reading

Griddy is awesome! It’s so great to be able to see on a daily basis exactly what your electricity is costing you- and to easily be able to adjust some things to lower your bill. I’ve cut our bill in HALF compared to our previous provider and saving money feels wonderful! I wish every utility was like this!

I enjoy seeing the flat rate of energy and being able to adjust to save some money. Seeing the surge pricing from the utility company allows me to turn off the AC for a bit and make other adjustments to lower the bill. It would be better if Griddy had an integration with ifttt or nest or ecobee so that I could automate energy savings instead of manually adjusting everything to avoid the higher prices.

Load Balancing and Management: is that a Griddy fee or from an outside source? Member since OCT 2017 and I’m on the fence about it.

We spent more with griddy in 10 days than with Cirro for one month (hottest summer bill). We switched back to Cirro. I am still waiting for the refund that is owed to me since they take charge you in advance.

Edit 8/21/19: Ok, I didn't have it completely figured out. I may still not have it completely figured out. If my review influenced you to sign up, and you had a bad experience, I owe you an apology. After talking with several people, I re-did the math from start date with Griddy, July 17, 2018 til July 31, 2019, and took into account the ancillary charges that Griddy must pay to access wholesale power and pass through to the customer and the credit card fee. In the end, witho...Continue Reading

On the recommendation of a neighbor, I signed up in July 2018 to see if Griddy could beat the fixed 8.8 cents/kwh I could get through other providers that I found on the PowerToChoose website. I've used it for 3 days now and received data for 2 days so far. Admittedly, we're in the middle of a 100 plus heat wave in Dallas, but I'm getting average rates of 16.06 cents on the first day of use and 19.12 cents on the second day of use which is costing me a fortune in electricity. I've decided to cut my losses after 3 days and si... read more

Cheaper prices than anywhere else in my area. The only negative thing i can say is they turn your lights off if the balance is ever under $10. Ive never heard of this tactic with a prepaid energy company. Even is you have $8 on your account (that would otherwise last about 3 days) your energy is still at risk of getting turned off. I dont understand the point of having money in my account at all if the energy is still getting shut off. Nonetheless , wonderful energy provider as long as you keep your recharges up to date.
