My husband & I were totally misled and misinformed during the sales pitch. I thought the grand resort was a great idea for our family but we was wrong and I wish we could reverse back everything that took place. I've been a timeshare owner for almost 15 years and prior to today I didn't really have any issues but my stay at the Las Palmeras in Orlando property totally changed my opinion of this company. I called the front desk FOUR times to report an issue of excessive condensation gathering on the floor of my room. It actually caused a puddle of moisture that's incredibly dangerous on the room's laminate wood floors. This was the worst mistake of our lives. We originally moved to using Hilton hotels instead of Marriott because of where our children went to college. We received and offer to sit through a presentation and heard all these wonderful things and received all the high pressure to sign. It sounded wonderful... But not all the information is provided. Everyone warns you about not getting yourself into a timeshare. After reviewing multiple companies we decided we loved our stay at Hilton and wanted to start off with 3400 points every other year and maybe do more later. What a scam. They told us that they had a resort on Disney property, nope. You have to look through one through another program called RCI and it isn't a guarantee...we looked and requested one for an entire year. I wish I would have seen these reviews. When I first sat down for the sales pitch, I was given a piece of paper that said "Don't believe the bad reviews, Its just our competition". The second clue should have been the FREE breakfast during the 90 minute presentation, which was actually just a cereal bar. The presentation turned into 3 hours of high pressure sales, at one point with 4 sales people at the table. I received no empathy or understanding from Customer service. I was told I was told I was confused twice. i found that very insulting. I had explained that the sales person misrepresented the agreement I was about to sign. I was led to believe that I was being given an additional 15,000 points. in addition to the 14,500 points my week represented. I even asked if I could use the points to pay the Maintenance Fee. Diamond Resorts is a SCAM SCAM. Please don't fall into this trap of big empty promises. We are not stupid people but they got us. Our advice, while you vacation never go to this meeting. They will get you and I promise you will regret it. I want to spread the word as much as I can. As a 13 year DRI owner, I've been mostly happy with with my DRI ownership points package. However, Diamond has reached a new low for owners in my eyes and I'm very disappointed. The last 2 times I've tried to use my OWNERSHIP points to book a resort, Diamond's website listed the property as having no availability. Then after a quick Orbitz search I find that the property is available with multiple room listings if I would like to rent.
