Went to show a friend how cheap they were, and assumed it would be low since I have had zero notifications about price spikes. 10 days into the month, bill is almost as high as last MONTH already. Over $90 on August 12, and that's only 500kwh used!
These price hikes are bad. I signed up August 2, - 10 days and my electricity bill is already $137.00 - I'm out.
I have had price spikes of 1 dollar/kwh about 5 times this month alone. I'm paying an average of 15 cents right now. definitely not worth it.
July I save money but in August It costs me money money in one day then an entire week. I cancelled my account on August 5th. I have screen shots and email showing meter not active as of August 6th. app showed I had $37.94 left in my account with 384 kilowatts at 11.4 per kilowatt. Then on August 7th,8th and 9th. now kilowatts are showing 18.6% per kilowatt on a closed account and they drained my account and ot recharged from my bank account. I had to file a claim since griddy is stealing money to not give refund. they tried... read more
Price spikes can be a little scary but if you average the cost over a year I find it hard to believe you will find a cheaper energy provider.
Dont do it. It was ok at first then I started paying almost 20cents a kwh. I paid $160 for 1 week of electricity.
They charge a fee for paying with credit cards, and that is the only payment they take. Also, there are price spikes and normally you can offset it by the other lower prices. Especially during the summer, and the last few days, the price has skyrocketed. I am spending more in a few days than I did in a month. You can’t offset that. When you combine the serious price spikes and the 3.5% charge on a credit card, (they don’t even accept checks online for no charge), it is not worth it. Most people are not home during the day to... read more
Awesome company and concept but you have to manage those price spikes in the summer for best savings. Use as little power as possible when the price spikes... this can be automated with a little know-how, IFTTT, and a decent WiFi thermostat like Honeywell. Update: This summer (starting in late July) has been really brutal with long price spikes at very high prices. I would not recommend Griddy for the average person anymore until Texas resolves the issues with its power grid and lack of supply since retiring several large co... read more
I switched 5 days ago and there has been a huge price spike every single day between 1-4pm. upwards of 90cents per hour. all in rates of over 15cents for August.
