About this business

The Austin Humane Society (AHS) is Austin's largest no-kill, non profit animal shelter and dog and cat adoption center. Each day, we have hundreds of cats and dogs in our shelter that are looking for a second chance at love and a family. We serve close to 8,000 animals each year through our both our adoption program and free feral cat spay and neuter clinic. AHS receives no city, state or federal funding, and relies solely on the support of individuals and businesses in our community.

Adopted the sweetest puppy yesterday during the "Clear out the Shelters" event. So thankful to all the staff and for their help. I was amazed with how organized the event was and the ability to accommodate all the humans and pets! Get job!

Great animal shelter. THey let us try out like 6 different cats before we brought home our new furry family member.

I went in to visit dogs because I know they need affection other than people who are paid to care for them. I saw a dog that looked at me like "hey, take me home." I found out it was a 2 dog deal because the dog I fell in love with had a sister that came with him. This is the best decision I've ever made, companions for life! I got a 2 for one, twice the love.

So happy to be given the opportunity to adopt 2 of the cutest and most snugly little kitties in the world! Quick and easy process with friendly and informative staff.

I would have give 5 stars, but you all don't return phone calls. I left 2 messages & no one ever returned my calls.

Business response:

Hi Azanett, I apologize for the delay in a phone response. We have had a very busy adoption weekend and did not mean for it to cause delays in our phone calls. I would be happy to answer any questions you have. What is your question and I would be happy to get someone to call you this morning.

This place refuses to help a good owner get their dog back. Despicable. Don't call yourself "humane" if you separate a dog and her bonded family.

So apparently you guys have a habit of adopting out other people's dogs as soon as possible with little to no efforts made to contact the owners? And have done it multiple times?! What a horrible way of doing business. You all aren't helping at all, and you should feel horrible.
