About this business

The Austin Humane Society (AHS) is Austin's largest no-kill, non profit animal shelter and dog and cat adoption center. Each day, we have hundreds of cats and dogs in our shelter that are looking for a second chance at love and a family. We serve close to 8,000 animals each year through our both our adoption program and free feral cat spay and neuter clinic. AHS receives no city, state or federal funding, and relies solely on the support of individuals and businesses in our community.

I doubt I am the only one who remembers the November orientation where numerous people were five minutes late and the lady locked the door, raised her voice and refused to let them in even though they paid to be at the orientation so they could help out. I talked with several of the late people myself and they said there was a statement in the e-mail they received saying there is a 15 minutes buffer on arrival time. Either way, she didn't have to throw a fit. I guess the facility doesn't want help. I'll take my volunteer tim... read more

Just a phenomenal facility!!! Everyone I've come across that works there or volunteers are genuinely extraordinary people. Adopted my lil fur baby a year ago and couldn't have been more pleased with my experience.. Thank you for your assistance in each step of the process!

Scum.... I'm disgusted by the fact that an agency like this would even be allowed to side with terrorist over another rescue facility. . Guess it's time we demand our community leaders do some serious firing and hiring restructuring around there

I don't know who to trust for all things cute and furry. I mean it used to be Austin Humane Society until I realized they partnered with none other than Blue Cat Cafe. A white nationalist backed gentrifying institution that abuses both the cats they display AND the people they employ. I will have to refrain from supporting AHS until they stop supporting awful institutions like Blue Cat Cafe!

edit: they listened to the community and stopped supplying blue cat cafe! thank you for listening can't believe y'all let the people at blue cat cafe abuse their cats the way they do! the owner lets them get parasites, fails to feed them, abuses them, and doesn't properly vet the people who adopt them. it's completely shameful. you're more likely to run into the owners neo nazi brother than a healthy cat!

They responded to the communities call to remove animals from Blue Cat Cafe. They've shown that they have a consistent message of uplifting the lives of animals and humans alike.

EDIT: Thank you AHS for doing the right thing and refusing to supply cats to a business that neglects them and exploits them for profit! Boycott Blue Cat Cafe!

We found the Love of our life there. I feel confident they took great care of her before adopting her out. She had all her shoots, chipped, and even surgery removing an assist. I want to say a Big thank you to HEB for donating the food to the shelter and the coupons.
