About this business
The Austin Humane Society (AHS) is Austin's largest no-kill, non profit animal shelter and dog and cat adoption center. Each day, we have hundreds of cats and dogs in our shelter that are looking for a second chance at love and a family. We serve close to 8,000 animals each year through our both our adoption program and free feral cat spay and neuter clinic. AHS receives no city, state or federal funding, and relies solely on the support of individuals and businesses in our community.

Cleanest shelter I've ever visited. Fabulous concept...animals are well cared for
My wife and I found our best friend,Charliebear at the AHS a little over 7 years ago. He is the sweetest,most loveable dog I've ever owned. We found the shelter to be clean and the animals well taken care of. The staff was great,friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!!
I officially adopted my puppy, Oscar, yesterday and the young lady that helped me was fantastic! She walked me through each step and patiently let me interrupt her with my questions. She was very thorough and knowledgeable as well! Props to Amanda in the adoption/foster department as well. The customer service here is above par and Oscar and I couldn't be happier that he found his forever home!

I adopted a sweet little kitty from here ~10 days ago. He's getting over his initial shyness and we had a great vet visit. I've had some bad experiences with unhealthy cats when adopting but that wasn't a problem here. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Even looking at their cats at Petco was really good.
Excellent. I got my 2 kittens here and they are so sweet in between being little devils and beating each other up....lol - kittenish behaviour. Love, Love, LOVE my little babies! Thank you for saving my kittens as they told me one was bitten in foster care and they had to do surgery. She was obviously well taken care for. I recommend the HUMANE SOCIETY in Austin.
We went to the teddy bear surgery, so heart warming and cute! Kids loved it (8, 11 year olds). Volunteers are amazing! Got to walk through the faculty and pet the cats and see the dogs
We left there today with a new family member. All the staff and volunteers were helpful and friendly. Dogs looked well-cared for and in nice surroundings! We've been to several shelters in the last few weeks visiting dogs and this was the best place! I highly recommend!
