About this business
The Austin Humane Society (AHS) is Austin's largest no-kill, non profit animal shelter and dog and cat adoption center. Each day, we have hundreds of cats and dogs in our shelter that are looking for a second chance at love and a family. We serve close to 8,000 animals each year through our both our adoption program and free feral cat spay and neuter clinic. AHS receives no city, state or federal funding, and relies solely on the support of individuals and businesses in our community.

My husband and I adopted our baby from here and it went as smoothly as it could go! The staff is super friendly and always available to help.
2yrs ago today, we got Shadow(Spirit then) from AHS, she was a flood rescue from the Halloween floods 2013.. She's grow to be a gorgeous loving and protecting lady.. and now has a 'crazy' Setter-sister, Pebbles.. and a sweet ladies man-heeler mix, Nacho, who walked up to her in the park without an owner. (the owners were never found, so we took him in) Thank you Austin Humane Society for caring so much, and doing great work in time of need! Love Shadow and family!
Thanks to my mom's friend, Dawn Shepard, I love Austin Humane Society and their TNR program for the stray/feral cats.
You guys gave us the privilege to take home a new member of our family during the Match-a-thon and he is the sweetest dog ever! Thank you so much!
We went to the Austin humane society to rescue a dog. We saw several dogs that we liked then we met Ringo a friendly 6 year old & fell in love. The staff was very nice and helpful. We scheduled a met and greet with our other dogs. We spent awhile letting the dogs get to know each other the stall was patient and made sure Ringo & our other dogs got along. We have had Ringo for several months and he is awesome! So glad we rescued an older dog.
We adopted from the shelter a couple months ago. Our new dog has brought with her nothing but joy. Thank-you for the opportunity to meet her. Keep on doing what you do.

I met the love of my life, Jake here 3 1/2 years ago. He is such a great addition to my life. The facility itself is clean and the adoption process is pretty easy.
