Shady Grove's pediatric emergency center's staff do not pride themselves on compassion. If you want nurses who will are unprofessional and have a lack of respect for you as a parent, this is the hospital. I say their emergency unit needs to be run by a new staff. Maybe 2 nurses will give you respect out of 20. The others will gossip and not attend to their patients. It's clear they wish they weren't there. Staff was very helpful and happy to help us anyway they can. The nurses gave us helpful advice about taking care of our newborn as well.
Everything was well organized, clean, and the could not be any kinder. Save this was a far cry from any other visit I have had to Shady Grove Adventist Hospital I'm not sure if it was just the orthopedic wing or all the wings are like this now but if I had to say based on my orthopedic experience it was first class.
Shameful nurses and assistants. Unrespectful and rude. Wow.

Dropped off at the emergency room of Shady Grave at midnight with shortness of breath, arm and jaw pains (sounds like check-off for what???). It is midnight. Led by EMT to a row of metal chairs by the reception, I sit and wait. I ask a passing nurse: any idea what the time table is? The answer: it will be 2-3 before you will be seen. So I went home. I figured, if I have to die, it will be more comfortable to do it at home than on a metal chair with nursing staff stepping on my feet as the walk back and forth and ignore me. T... read more
Hands down THE best experience I've had with a pediatric ward. The ER staff was super nice and knew their stuff. The pediatric staff was just amazing. They treated my 2 year old like he was their own. I can't say enough wonderful things about ALL the staff. Even the maintenance people were good to us.
