The Portland VA Medical Center Emergency room Staff are amazing.
I almost always get good care from them. My PCP is great and the ER staff is awesome. There has only been a couple of times when I received care from a specialty clinic that was disappointing.
The Dr and nurses are fantastic. The system is poor. Long waits for appointments and no flexibility, they made people around me wait through lunch and told them if they left for the cafe and were called they would miss their appointment. I drove 3.5 hours for a 10 minute appointment to be told there is nothing can be done for 4 more months.
We have to go to the Cancer center every two weeks my husband haves treatment. The nurses and doctors are amazing they make our experience that much better. Jim and Daisy Gilbert
Well I guess yesterday was the worst of all the times I've been there. You see I leave about 140 miles round-trip so I leave early so I don't have to mess with the traffic in the morning and so I can get parked and to my appointment. So I get a call from the Va and they say they have to cancel do to short of staffing,well that's OK but when I'm there and it's a hour before my appointment that's not cool and that I've been dealing with the problem for five weeks or more. I feel they don't hire enough intern doctors. Because I have to wait 60 days for an appointment tells me they have to many soldiers on there books.
I've encountered quite a bit at this hospital. Both good and not so good. However, the good stuff outweighs the latter. Employees are nice and friendly and don't count you as a number.
I have never had problems here. Waiting for appointments sucks but if you can't wait get health insurance on the economy and quit whining
We arrived an hour early (allowed for more traffic coming north from Albany) and checked into the Dermatology Clinic as soon as we arrived. We had just settled into our chairs in the waiting room when my husband's name was called ... an HOUR EARLY ... and he saw the doctor immediately. We were on our way back to our car within 15 minutes. The care, the facilities, the staff, everything at this VA Hospital and Clinic is wonderful. My husband and I are both Veterans and we both appreciate being able to obtain our care here.
