Had a spinal cord stimulator implant done by Dr. Diefenbach. Was very impressed with him and the entire staff both his office and surgery staff. Had trouble with the insurance and Hamot fraught FOR ME to get it approved and kept me informed even the president of the board of directors called the insurance! Once approved everything was perfect. Dr. Diefenbach told me that if even though it's was considered an outpatient procedure if I was in too much pain that he would keep me overnight. Hey UPMC why am I getting bills for treatment for an infection I acquired in YOUR hospital? I had surgery on the 2nd, on the 4th pneumonia is discovered. Your infectious disease doctor (weber) charged my health insurance nearly $300 for stoping in my room for 5 minutes. Of the $300 I am stuck with $144. This doesn't include the other doctors that have charged me for treatment for a INFECTION I received in YOUR hospital. Seems like a SCAM and FRAUD. I had a great experience at UPMC EAST when I had surgery for a hernia. Took excellent care of me. I would recommend this hospital to anyone.
