About this business

The Guenther House makes its home in an elegant historic mansion on the property of Pioneer Flour Mills in the historic King William area. From its not-so-humble beginnings as the home of Carl Hilmer Guenther in 1860, it has been restored into one of the more unique dining experiences in the city. The breakfast menu (served all day) offers Southern Sweet Cream Waffles and breakfast tacos, among other items. At lunch, choose from such entries as Champagne Chicken Enchiladas and Pioneer Taco Salad.

I am really surprised at all the great reviews about the chicken and waffles, coming from the restaurant biz I have to say it was a let down, the food was good but no better than a Jim's definitely not worth an hour and fifteen minutes and yes the do serve coffee while you wait but not in 90 degree weather, also service was ok no better than a IHOP. If you are looking for a great breakfast in SA I highly recommend Snooze, Magnolia Pancake House or Whiskey Cake all these places are so much better and cooler.

Interesting piece of San Antonio history. The grounds are beautiful and the food is smashing. Scratch baked giant biscuits and cinnamon rolls are what they are known for, but their quiche and chicken salad are worth the trip as well. A must for anyone coming to San Antonio.
