not a good value – Overall, I thought the food was WAY overpriced for what you got. My dish was a fancy potroast, and at $25 it should've tasted like more than just potroast - but it didn't. My wife's seafood dish was bland at best. However, I did like the decor and the band playing.
Review of the Sambuca-hosted New Year's Eve party in the Crystal Ballroom – This year I went with my boyfriend and two other couples to the Sambuca-hosted New Year's Eve party in the Crystal Ballroom. Not recommended – Worst dining experience in an "upscale" restaurant ever. In defense of the restaurant we arrived in off hours between lunch and dinner. Served wilted lettuce salad and mushy pasta. I was mysteriously ill for three days. The management picked up the tab but with a surley attitude and no apologies for the hideous food. Would never recommend to any friend and no marketing will over come this word of mouth advertising. I see by other comments here that others have had similar experiences.
What a great evening ! – I recently went on a blind-date to Sambuca. Where should I start? Great music, food, wine list, and service. The staff is friendly, attentive, and personable. My date and I had a fantastic time and I was having so much fun that I barely touched my food ! The chicken that I had was perfect ! I look forward to my next date at Sambuca. I know the two of us will be back for great music, food and fun !!!!
Overall disappointment – I had reasonable expectations about going to Sambuca for dinner. I'd previously been during happy hour and was pleased with the service, drinks, and food. We were promptly seated - we made reservations earlier and there was hardly a crowd. Our service was average - the one "flaw" I would fault our waiter for was bringing by a napkin when asked. Hip Happy Hour & Lovely Friday Night – I've been there several times and enjoy their happy hour. The bartenders are courteous and knowledgable about the wine. While the wait for a table can take time on the weekends, the bar is lively and bustling without feeling overcrowded. The music isn't always jazz, but it's always congruent w/ the ambience the decor and lighting has already created. The food is not great, but good (as in, I've had better). Decent atmosphere, good service, food below average – The waitstaff here is knowledgable and attentive, the best thing this venue has going for it. The Seafood Integration is a well presented entree whose flavors are pretty pathetic. The mahi mahi was dry and bland. The lump crab inside of a mushroom cap was a horrible idea and bland as well. I love this place! – The food is excellent, the music is awesome, the service is friendly, and the ambience tops off the experience! I always recommend this place to all my friends!
great place to enjoy dessert and live jazz music at the same time – this is quite an old venue, but a tried-and-true spot. i find myself going here from time to time. i would come more often if it weren't inconveniently located in downtown. great place to listen to some live jazz/blues music whilst you sip your drinks at the bar...or enjoy from afar at their dimly-lit dining area. i recommend this spot for a late nite dessert experience. the tiramisu is probably one of the best i have ever had in my life ... pair it with one... read more
