Worth the Wait – The food here is wonderful and the portions are on the larger side. There is, however, sometimes quite a wait to get seated. And then after you place your order it's sometimes difficult to get the attention of one of the servers. I think it's well worth it though. And if you want to avoid the not so great service, there's always to go orders!

Sushi Burger Deluxe – Okay Not really a sushi burger. But the portions are large enough to make one definitely. First off: Saburo has darn good sushi. I have been coming here for the last couple years and still believe it is a strong contender (always) for Portland's best sushi. Saburo expanded recently in the last few months to accomodate more business and to keep less people from standing outside. The only drag about waiting is that sometimes folks have to bear the weather in order to wait for their delicious sushi prize. ... read more

Fab-o-Rama Sushi – "Unagi the size of your HEAD" exclaims a customer Cedric. And he's right. The portions at this tiny resturant are huge. The spicy tuna roll is as large as most joint's fotomaki! Be warned though, this is not a good place to eat on weekends, unless a 30-60 minute wait for seating is in the plan. Must haves: Hawaiian roll, creamy spicy scallops, bonito, salmon belly and the unagi of course!

not for sushi snobs – fine, saburo's isn't for sushi snobs who have been to japan and now are self proclaimed experts. but for an amature like myself, saburo is the tastiest sushi in portland. i like the super-sized portions. i even enjoy the wait. i think the staff is fine. it's all part of the experience.

Big Fish, little pond – Saburo's sushi is so good I drive 25 minutes out of my way to get to it. With HUGE pieces of fresh fish, incredible seared ahi and unbeatable prices, you can't help but love Saburo's!

Awesome! – Great sushi, big portions, cheaper then your average sushi place! Wish wait time was less but once you sit down, you get your sushi pretty quickly! I LOVE this place!

Warning! Best & worst. – Best sushi in Portland, nearly the worst service. More space lets folks get seated, but tonight I was there at opening and after a wait of an hour (I'd been told 15 minutes) my TO GO order still hadn't shown up. I was repeatedly told "They're working on it." The problem was, orders from tables were entered before the TO GO folks who were standing with their filled out orders ready. The result was delayed To Go orders, extra folks standing around waiting. When I had to leave _without_my_food_, the ref... read more

So Sushi me! – Having lived in Japan for 11 years, I tend to judge Sushi joints from a less impressionable corner. Saburo's has a kind of cult status mainly because of it's location in the trendy Sellwood arena and because the local artists could actually afford to eat there. The raw fish (good quality) portions are often gigantic (often to the point of absurdity) and definitely not for the squeemish first timer. The rest of the fare is quite good with a little of something for every taste. The best feature is that the owner... read more

Worth the wait – This was my first introduction to a sushi restaurant. Though I had no other sushi establishments to compare with it, I thought the place was a gem. We were a party of six, and all newcomers. We had a blast! I was enjoying myself so much I even braved a portion of Sea Urchin. Different.? All in all, great little place. Can't wait to return. Be prepared to wait a bit longer if you're with a party of six or more.
