Yum Yum sushi! – I love saburo's! Just make sure to get there as soon as they are opening - otherwise you will not sit for a while.

Yellow Tail too Mushy!! – The weird thing about Saburo's is, I've noticed everytime I've been there (about 4-5 times now) the yellow tail is too mushy and not very flavorful. Has anyone else noticed this? However, the albacore is pretty good, so I order that instead of the yellowtail now.

There's a reason! – Come on people, there's a reason there is ALWAYS a line in front of this place. I was very disappointed by the two user ratings. I do not want two people that obviously don't get out much to sway you away from the undeniably best Sushi place in Portland. I found the sushi some of the best I have had in the world. I have traveled nearly everywhere, especially to Japan, and find that the Sushi at Saburo's is incredible by any comparison. They have the largest sushi, it is true, but what has failed to be sai... read more

Saburos Rules!!!! – I have travelled extensively. Eaten Sushi in San Fran, Boston, NY, Aspen, and elsewhere. Saburos is one of the best. Although I've never been to Japan. For those worried about the restaurants size. They have added a back room with seven new tables. There are still long lines on busy nights. But Saburos is worth it.

Bigger, but NOT better! – Yes, Saburo's has the BIGGEST sushi in town-- great if you're from Texas! But for the rest of us? Bigger as Saburo's means LOTS of rice in each piece of sushi and in the rolls. The sushi is fresh, but you're getting massive rice and much less fish. Also, the wait in line (outside, down the street) is pretty outrageous-- we waited 45 minutes to get in. And the place is basically a shack inside-- 10 or 15 tables in VERY CRAMPED quarters.

Nice Fish, Mean People – I went here with my wife and her mother. We arrived first in line and waited for about 30 minutes for the doors to open. As the door starts to open, it bumps me a little in the back. I turn around to pull it open to help whoever is trying to open it from inside and to let my two female companions through the door first. The Asian woman yelled at me and told me, "LET GO OF DOOR!" I tried to explain that I was only trying to help but she was extremely rude. That was over a year ago. Haven't been back s... read more

Hostile waters – Saburo's sushi is excellent, plentiful, and priced for the budget-concious. The surly, slow, and downright hostile service has convinced me to never again darken the doors of this establishment. Life hands out enough abuse without paying for it.

Not worth the WAIT – Saburo has great sushi, but it's definitely not worth the super-wait you have to go through to sit in a claustrophobic dining area. You feel like little sardines packed in this place. There are so many more Fantastic sushi places around town, without a teeny tiny little dining room. Try Takahashi, up on Holgate...a big dining room with the best sushi in town. You might have a little bit of a wait, but at least when you finally do get to sit down you can swing your arms without hitting someone! :)

Yummy Sushi! – We love this place! Just be aware of the often LONG wait to get in (no reservations), as well as the one-order limit (make sure you order plenty of food when waited on because you aren't permitted to order again)! Great food & prices.
