my pink tuna's not a sign of freshness!! – I don't know what the big deal about Saburo's sushi house. The wait is too long, the sushi pieces are too big, and the service is waay below average. I went to Saburo's twice. The first time, I ordered some tuna sashimi, and it arrived on the table looking pink, like it was from 4 days ago. The table next to ours, said, "woo...I guess they didn't like you then...". Thought I'd give them a second chance, but my second time theere wasn't redeeming either. Spend your money somewhere el... read more

sushi good, value great! – Saburo's is not for the serious sushi connoisseur, as the cuts of fish are sometimes, umm, containing connective tissues and that greasy grey salmon fat, which should not arrive on your sushi platter, ever. That aside, if you want great value, Saburo's is your place. Dollar for dollar, I've always enjoyed it, and the fish is good if not great, so you don't have to break the bank to enjoy decent sashimi. There's the tip: order sashimi, and the cuts of fish tend to be better.....

Best bang for the buck – Hands down for the price no one can match the size and quality of Saburo's While I do prefer Sinju in the Pearl for quality more, Saburo is tried and true for a fun, stuffing sushi experience. Always fresh, always huge and always a wait in line. The place looks like a dive, because it is. But the food is great and if you eat at the bar the chefs are always a bit friendlier. They used to be rude and used to kick you out after one serving - but those days are gone. They will stop seating folks 10 minut... read more

Good sushi for your dollar – Although Saburo's can be inconsistent with quality and taste, it's an overall safe bet. You definitely won't go hungry for the amount you spend, especially since proportions are huge. I've had better service in other places, but it's not all that bad. It does help to know what season you're in - then you won't tend to be dissapointed on the freshness of certain raw items. We've been there many times and there are more hits than misses, although the cooked items are either too salty or too bland. ... read more

saburo's scrumptuous sushi – This place is to sushi what Jerry Seinfeld's Soup Nazi is to soup. It is so good it's worth the wait and hassle. That's why it's always packed! Five nummies from me... nummy nummy nummy nummy nummy

FanFreakinTastic – Really terrific sushi, and an excellent value - not to mention, located in an awesome neighborhood.

Best Sushi Place in Town – The biggest Sushi in Oregon, price is not bad for the portion you are getting. Everything is serve fresh and tasty. The service isn't the best, but you go there for the food anyway. It gets really crowded all the time, so if you plan to go try to get there before it opens, to save yourself a 30mins - 1 hour wait. One try and you'll be hook to Saburo.

NoT sO gReAt – Food comes in large portions but not so very tasty. Prices are ok but I'll give a little more for better quality. The place is crowded and you have to wait at least one hour to get seats. The service wasn't all that great either. There are a lot more places with better service and food.

Unimpressive to say the least... – Listen, if you have any respect for the art of sushi making you CANNOT say the sushi they serve at Saburo's is acceptable, let alone good. Look, the single best test of freshness at any sushi restaurant is the Uni. Uni, when served even the day after it's caught, starts to smell a little funny, tastes a little odd, starts to turn darker orange in color, and starts to become runny. Fresh Uni does NOT stink, and just tastes pure, sweet, almost firm, and creamy. Try Saburo's next time, if you ... read more
