Dr Boykin repaired my shoulder. I am now back to swimming and am pain free after several years of pain and loss of mobility and function. He is a great doctor and I highly recommend him.
Dr Boykin is very knowledgeable, kind and patient and if you need a shoulder injection he is the very best and so gentle! , I would highly recommend him!

Friendly, efficient, responsive
I saw Dr. Boykin for a shoulder problem. When I arrived I was taken back within just a few minutes to visit with Dr. Boykin’s NP, Marc who was very professional and thorough. He directed me to x-ray where the staff was friendly and patient to explain the various positions they needed to x-ray. Shortly after, I saw Dr Boykin and he, too performed a physical exam, took time to review the x-rays with me and proposed 2 options for treatment. Dr. Boykin is very evidence-based in his approach, which I so appreciated. He knows the latest research and only recommends what the data supports. He also is a good listener and a kind, caring human.
Dr Boykin's skill, care and compassion have set a bar that few, if any orthopedic surgeons can reach, much less surpass. I'm now four years post-reverse revision total shoulder replacement and the improvements in range of motion and pain I've experienced are beyond what I had imagined or even hoped were possible. Dr Boykin's credentials and reviews were more impressive than any other doctors in his specialty practicing in greater Asheville. My visit to address a rotator cuff tear and shoulder arthritis did not disappoint. His nurse and Physician's Assistant were competent, friendly and professional. They took my symptoms and arranged for the appropriate x-rays.
