Pretty Good Soul Food – Overall, I was impressed. We didn't have to wait too long, and the food was hot and plentiful. Our waitress was a bit slow.
Great Food SMALL Venue – Ms Tootsie's offers excellent food. The Mac & Cheese is Delicious. Portions are Huge. I don't drink ICED Tea but EVERYONE loves it. IT's served with a small wedge of watermelon in it. The beverages are served in sports bottles, so they are a bit overpriced. The food is inexpensive and worth much more than the price. This is the best soul food in Philadelphia. The recipes seem to be traditional. They're not playing around with trying to reinvent the soul food wheel.
User review by dewwhop – Every since my first fisit to Ms. Tootsie's when it first opened, I have recommended Ms. Tootsie's to all my friends. I go there at least 4 times a month I really enjoy the food. Last night was the first time I had a not so nice experience at Ms. Tootsie's. I went to the restuarant with a party of 5(4 adults and 1 child) When I received my bill I was charged a gratuity, I was never told about the gratuity charge and I had already left the waiter a $40.00 tip on the table.
Service with Soul – While away on business, I was searching for the Soul Food restaurant Philly is famous for. I saw some information on Patti LaBelle's show, and through some research I found Ms. Tootsies Soul Food Cafe. It felt so good to appreciate southern cooking, I could tell the staff understood the menu and had actually enjoyed the food themselves. Soul Food At Its Best – Talk about great tasting food delivered with flair and class. Eating at Ms. Tootsie's is always a WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. Almost everytime I visit the restaurant there is a different celebrity here. I guess we are coming back for the same reasons. Just can't get enough of that great SOUL FOOD!
Ok if this is your first soul food restaurant – I would not recomend this place for people from the south or if you been to more than one soulfood restaurant. A little to much of a soup kitchen atmosphere, but i can see they were trying with the decorating. Service was very slow and food needed more seasoning and they took so long with our food we just tasted it (food) and packed up.

BEST SOUL FOOD IN PHILLY – I have never been to a restaurant where everything they sell is delicious!!, if ure looking for soul food that taste like it came from ya grandmas kitchen this is the place to go!!
User review by jonelleh – ms. tootsie's was more than i can write in this review!! everytime i come to this restaurant it's better and better! i try to get different things to experience, but i am addicted to the fried chicken and sadiki's catfish!! i applaud the service, the food the atmosphere. yes i do agree i think they should expand, but that's the only thing that needs to change! i applaud kevan parker and "ms. tootsie" for their success!
