Unbelievably Inane! – Unheard of! I called Ms. Tootsie's on a Friday afternoon to inquire about making reservations for a party of 9 on the following Sunday. I was told by the very polite gentleman with whom I spoke that I did not need to make a reservation, as my party was under 10 people. GREAT! Upstairs dining add flavor!!! – This past weekend I went to Ms. Tootsies for the first time since they have had their upstairs dining open. First off I must say that this was an absolutely amazing move on their part because we didn’t have to wait at all…the downstairs area usually got a little crowded on its own. Lousy and expensive food – For a number of months, my girlfriend has been raving about Miss Tootsies the South Philly "gourmet" soul food restaurant. I have to say I was rather excited about the chance to visit the place and a few weeks ago I did for the first time! I was extremely dissapointed. Food for the Soul! – I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and that’s fair, however after reading the last negative review I feel compelled to give a piece of my mind in defense of Ms. Tootsies, my favorite soul food restaurant. NOT SO HOT! – Ms. Tootsies food is OK at best to me. I ate there a few times since 2001, I've never paid for it thank goodness. Now I am so proud of the owner doing his thang. Best Soul food around – I took some friends to Ms. tootsies this past weekend for their first time. Even though I've been there a few times before this time was unbelievably outstanding. My friends and I were so pleased with everything...from the food to the service to the great ambiance. The fried chicken here is straight from the south, their mac n cheese is so cheesy and delicious and their candied yams are right from my mothers kitchen.
