With the aim of addressing the stark absence of quality restaurants offering home-style food in the area, chef and owner Lisa Schroeder has taken the experience gained at the likes of Le Cirque to create wonderfully fresh, bistro-style cuisine in the light and airy ambiance of this old Irish bank building. Breakfast and lunch menus at Mother's Bistro & Bar offer an excellent array of Northwestern specialties prepared to the highest standards. There is more variation in the dinner menu, with everything from salads to pot roas... read more

Excellent Service – It's all about fast, friendly service and great tasting food. This place has them both. The portions were huge and the food delicious. We sat outside for dinner and the owner is obviously taking great pains to make the block nice with planters of flowers. I give it a 10 out of 10 for food and service.
Soup to die for~ – On Tuesday I ate the best bowl of tomato soup that I have ever had. The rest of my meal was excellent (Barney's chicken sandwich and key lime pie) but the soup.....wow. I was seated quickly, had very very good service and, did I mention the soup?
Great dinner and great service – Having showed up before the restaurant opened I waited in the bar until 5:30. I almost left, the service in the bar was perfunctory at best. Glad I didn't though, the service in the restaurant was great - our waiter was knowledgeable and funny, and everyone we had contact with was great. The food was excellent and the pace of the meal was perfect. I almost didn't try the restaurant because of the negative reviews here, but I am so glad I did!
Delicious Dinner!! – I don't usually write reviews but the dinner my family and I had at Mothers warranted some sort of thank you. We were late for our Ruth Chris reservations and they couldn't seat us so we ended up at Mothers. They moved a few tables, squeezed us in and everything was wonderful. Our waiter Ray made us feel so welcome, the food was delicious and they refused to charge us for our daughter's birthday cake. We were big fans of Mothers brunch but the dinner was just as good and our kids were just as welcome. TH... read more
Nice Personality – Intended for a year to visit, went for my father's b-day; they were closed at 3. We went back a few days later at noon and it was packed; many parties waiting. Waited 20 minutes-nice decor, sitting by a vase of fresh flowers. Through our meal I thought 'This place would be nicer if the black ceiling didn't look like a warehouse'. I was concerned with the chairs, mine felt like it might break. The matzo ball soup was a joke, disappointing after hearing good things; will gladly stick to my mother's. The Chal... read more
Some of the best food ever! – I stumbled upon Mother's last weekend with my boyfriend after having no luck finding a certain resaurant. I was very impressed with the victorian style decor, and comfortable setting. I had the pulled pork, and I have to say it was one of the tastiest dishes I've ever eaten. It was so tender it melted in my mouth. The service was a bit slow, but the wonderful food mad up for it. Please don't miss this place!
Wonderful! – This was an amazing experience! Totally pleasent and delightful. The service went above and beyond, we WILL be back.
Slow Slow Slow! – I went there last night for a baby shower with a total of 9 people. I have never had slower service in my life! Our waiter was consistently MIA and the hostess (owner's daughter?) would pick up his slack but by that point it was too late. Very cute restaurant but spendy and chincy wine pours. I might go back to try happy hour, but it's a big might.
Mother's mmm mmm good – While my brunch experience was average, I am willing to give it another try, as the dinners are very good. Service is good, at times rushed during busy times, but staff is friendly and accomodating to larger groups. Good home cooking, recommend this for your out of towners who may be a little fussy and not used to the traditional NW cuisine!
