worst experience – My first experience at Mother's was terrible. I was told our part would have a fourty minute wait, after an hour I checked with the hostess and she very rudley told me that since there were only two in our party we would just have to wait. We waited an hour and fourty minutes, many other parties were seated before us that arrived after us. I again asked the hostess when we would be seated and she just said "soon", we left. Surprised – After hearing raves for so long, we tried Mother's and were surprised that the menu consisted of more sandwiches than anything else. We just happen to not care much for sandwiches preferring our bread to come as a side. There was a special which we ordered that was o.k. I just doubt if we will return. The tables are close together although the ambience was reasonably nice.
Hrmm, plenty of other places. – How sad to see a nice place fall to trendy ruin. The hostess was awful to us. Down right rude to my mother whom I was taking out to brunch. The wait was eternal. The food was only fair and very expensive for what it was. There was a large crowd waiting to get in, so I guess the managment/staff just don't have to try any more? I will be finding a new brunch place.
Mmmm, Good! – My wife and I have enjoyed Mother's both times we have eaten there. I love the chicken and biscuits. My wife is a vegetarian and always finds something she likes. The staff is friendly and helpful. We hope you enjoy your visit as much as we did.
Just Beautiful – I love this place! Great food, beautiful atmosphere--very friendly servers. They are always busy but they always seem to be able to seat us very quickly. Don't miss the key lime pie!
Blown Away – I saw some negative reviews on here and almost didn't go eat at Mothers but I was blown away by the place. The food was excellent, my service was excellent and I think, compared to many pdx restaurants, that it was a good value. We could hear and watch the chef from our seats and she was all over her workers--making sure that the food and service was perfect. Personally, I like the chef to care about what is being served. Low Sodium, please?? – Can low or non sodium options be added to your selections, please? Love the food, but with hypertension, I blow up from the sodium content. Taste is incredible, but the consequences are disasterous. Thank you so much for considering this request.
Verbally Attacked – I had heard only good things about Mother's and were looking forward to a positive experience. After we sat down, I tore the daily special menu printed on a small square of paper. The hostess came over and grabbed the menu out of my hand and repeatedly announced how it really "sucked" that I had done that and that they only print a small number of menus. Mama is MEAN!!!!! – I was in Mothers for breakfast on Sunday and all was quite pleasant until Mama came out and started screaming at one of her servers in the middle of the dining room. I was embarrassed for the chef by the way she was treating her staff and felt so sorry for the server. The server was doing a beautiful job and I'm not sure what the problem was. It ended up the Chef started waiting on our table (what ever happened to our freindly server)......Weird!!!!!! Will not be back on principle alone.
