First time renter of getaround. I picked the car up had the car for a day, filled the tank up and dropped the car off in the SAME location I picked the car up. They charged me $25 stating I didn't fill the tank up. Then charged me $50 for returning it "1.2 miles away" yet I dropped the car off at the SAME location I picked it up from.. have been a Getaround customer since 2015, back when you could start the reservation 15 minutes early and you had a 15 minute return buffer. Before the insurance cost more than the reservation .The last 2 years I have regularly used Getaround(at least twice a week) in the ********************** and I have had some pretty horrible experiences. getaround users beware: cars you reserve are frequently NOT there when you arrive and, despite companys no smoking policy, often reek of pot, cigarettes, cigars or even all three. Want help from customer service? Good luck!

Horrible experience. Left me without a car last minute. You cannot rely on this company. They canceled last minute, no car replacement. I rented a car for this weekend July 9th - July 11th 2021. The person renting out the car was *****. An hour and half before my rental a representative called and said the car is being canceled. They said there is no equivalent cars available and will issue me a refund. I saw another car but it was $100 more than my rental and would only issue me $25 voucher. Great idea, horrible operation. Nearly every rental ended with having to argue false charges, usually claiming i did not refill gas when in fact i did. One time kept me on the phone for 45 mins to make my rental late when the purpose of the call was to extend the rental and prevent the late fee. My last rental scheduled for 6:30 am return, I had thought I extended but regardless, I was not contacted until 3:43 am the next morning as attempt to extend the rental before requesting a recovery tow of vehicle. I paid $140 dollars to rent a vehicle on this platform specifically because I knew I could make some or all of the money back using ****.As a first time renter I could not believe the condition of the car that had just costed me $140/day There was broken glass all over the vehicle! In the seats on the floor even in the door panels. There were large blood like stains in 3 of the seats and a foul odor. About a month ago I rented a vehicle on Getaround. Everything was fine until a few weeks later I got notified that I had caused damage to the vehicle (which I hadn't, for the record). I tried to dispute but had no luck, since they hide every detail of their so called "investigations" and just put up a wall and tell you you're responsible for the damage. Getaround charged my partner for damage to a vehicle she rented without offering any proof that she caused the damage. They withdrew money from her account immediately -- the cash was gone before she ever received an email explaining why she was being charged. She was later charged a second time, again without any warning. I would give 0 stars if I could. I was told that any damage found after I rented and returned the car was still my fault and I had to pay for the issues. I returned the car in the same condition I found it, but, since it got scratched after I left it, apparently I still need to pay. Their customer service is especially terrible at picking up the phone and replying to emails. Absolutely ridiculous. Do not use this company. They will give you a bunch of BS fees. It isn't worth it.
