I spent 4 years as a renter with Getaround and most recently 1 year an owner, renting out my own vehicle. I’m going to share why I strongly advise anyone against renting their vehicle through Getaround. I hope my experience brings to light the negligence and lack of risk management the company has for their customers. It is in Getaround’s policy and procedures to instruct drivers to leave ignition keys within the vehicle under the visor in a Velcro pouch provided with their logo. HORRIBLE!!!! I wish I had seen these reviews before renting with them. Besides the high prices and toll charges, these people have filed 2 separate claims on me for 2 vehicles that BOTH HAD FLAT TIRES??!!! In the first case, I contacted Getaround and told them of the issue. I even sent photos. The car was dirty, had a "check engine" light on, the tire went flat, AND THERE WAS NO SPARE TIRE!!! I really loved the idea of renting my vehicle when I was not using it. However, GetArounds rates and compensation is completely unfair to the owner. There was period where my vehicle would be rented for 24 hours and I would make $19. Less than a dollar per hour after GetAround took their cut. They advertise vehicles starting at $5 per hour, but it wasn't uncommon for my vehicle to be rented ranging from $1.40 to $2.50 per hour, pre-GetAround taking 40% commission. I was rear ended by a driver using a getaround vehicle. I have filed multiple claims on their website as directed and they just ignore them. I have reached out on twitter and yelp. They make it look like they care and never contact you. I have given them my contact info, my insurance companies info, and nothing. The damage to my truck was $2600, and I can't even get a legit contact number for this company. Reading all these complaints, I wonder if they even fixed the car that the person was driving. Had an accident in a getaround car. I have tried to resolve the issue for 3 months. I gave them the information through email, since they changed their policy and you cant call them by phone. First they said I hadn't sent anything, but I repeatedly did, then I repeatedly requested to talk to someone. I was totally ignored and finally they only answered partially and made a determination without even talking to me!!!!! This has been a total nightmare. One star is too high for this company. I have not received a response from anyone on over 30 support tickets I have submitted over the last two months. This level of service has led me to deactivating my car however I can't schedule an appointment because every time I call or submit a support ticket they let me know that they are working on it. It's been over two weeks. I can't stress this enough, do not work with this company. It is the lowest level of service I have ever seen.

Customer service with Getaround is a nightmare. I am an owner of a vehicle through Getaround, and I've had back-to-back issues with Getaround and its renters in the past several months with no resolution from anybody. They do not follow their own policies and their "Happiness Team" will give you the same "we've escalated your issue and you'll be contacted by a supervisor within 24-48 hours." BEWARE Getaround is a total SCAM. Not only did they charge me for a car I didn't damage but they also went into my bank account, not once, not twice, but three times. After emailing customer service several times for this to be rectified I just gave up. The car that I rented was not the car in the photo. In fact the car was dirty, the tires had a slow leak in them and the engine made funny noises.
