Dr DeL Rio replaced my ankle in August 2017. The surgery was painless after surgery I did not take any pain meds. I had suffered with my ankle for years due to an accident. It had gotten. So bad I could hardly walk. Six months after surgery I was playing golf again. I really liked Dr DeL Rio and his staff. I flew from Nashville the day before surgery for pre o p had surgery the next day stay in hospital over night flew home next day. Can't say enough good about DeOrio

I can honestly say that after my total ankle replacement Dr DeOrio gave me back a missing part of my life. I am going on 4 years since surgery and have no pain. thank you Dr DeOrio!

After years of having excruciating bone on bone ankle pain as a result of an old injury, I researched and consulted with other specialists in the field. Finally, I found the perfect surgeon, Dr.James K. DeOrio. I also want to compliment his caring professional staff. I am now pain free after his expert total ankle replacement surgery. Dr DeOrio performed a total ankle replacement surgery on me. I was unable to walk without a limp and only short distances for several years. I was walking without a brace 8 weeks post-op, and took my family to the zoo 12 weeks post-op and on my feet for 6+ hours!! Dr DeOrio got my life back for me!

I love Dr. DeOrio! He is an amazing orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon. My foot was partially amputated in a bicycle accident when I was six years old. By the time I was 60, my ankle was fused from arthritis and the pain was severely restricting my activities. In 2010, Dr. DeOrio performed a total ankle replacement and it changed my life. I can now walk, hike, dance, exercise, and perform my routine activites without pain. I just had my 8-year checkup. Everything is great. Thank you, Dr. DeOrio!

Dr. DeOrio was recommended to me by Dr. Gregory Motley in Asheville, N.C. Dr. DeOrio specializes in ankle replacements. He did an ankle replacement for me in 2015. Prior to this surgery, I had suffered with ankle pain for decades due to an improperly healed fracture. My ankle was a mass of arthritis. I can now walk better than I have in 30+ years! If you need an ankle replacement, Dr. DeOrio is the surgeon you want to have.

The cartilage in my ankle wore out after years of walking on a pronated knee. I kept seeing that if someone were to chose to have their ankle replaced, they should find someone who had done a LOT of them. Dr. De Orio's name kept coming up as a leader in the field of ankle replacement. I'm so glad I live near Durham and so glad I found Dr. De Orio. I have nothing but positive things to say about all aspects of my care. It's been 5 years and my ankle is going strong!

Both my ankles were terribly mutilated in a horrible plane crash. After many operations I could painfully walk short distances. Then Dr. DeOrio was recommended to me. This fantastic surgeon fused my left ankle and gave me a total replacement of my right ankle. I have finally gotten my life back! I can walk without pain, fish, dance with my wife again, and most importantly, work. Thank you Dr. DeOrio, and the wonderful staff at Duke.
