I sought out Dr. DeOrio after hearing that he was an expert in ankle replacement. My ankle had been crushed in a car accident when I was 18. After 50 years of progressively worsening pain and stiffness, the arthritis was so bad that I couldn't walk without extreme pain. Thankfully, Dr. DeOrio and the team at Duke had developed a state-of-the-art ankle replacement. I underwent the procedure, spent one night in the hospital, and after 9 mo. recovery w/ 4 mo. PT, can walk pain free! Thank you!
I am always impressed by Dr. DeOrio's listening skills, his patience and depth of experience. He explains things to me in a very pragmatic way. I know where I stand with my ankle condition when I leave his office.
In the year 1989 I had a motorcycle accident which did severe damage to my right ankle and again in 1994 when I fell of a roof. In 2015 I literally at times could not put any weight on the ankle for days. On November 2015 I went to see Dr. DeOrio for a solution to the pain I was having. He suggested after Xrays that I could have the ankle replaced or fuze the ankle, it was my dicision. I chose replacing it. Thanks to Dr. DeOrio I am apsolulity pain free due to his expertice in ankles. thanks
I suffered with severe pain in my left ankle for several years, seeing several doctors during that time. After examining me, Dr. DeOrio immediately recommended ankle replacement. I followed his instructions after surgery and during the recovery period. The surgery took place 4 years ago! My ankle has been pain free since surgery. I highly recommend Dr. DeOrio!
Dr. DiOrio is the ultimate professional. His surgical skills and knowledge are the foundation of his profession but his ability to communicate to his patients on a level that they can understand is one of his greatest strengths. He also makes his patients aware that he is available for them in the event that they need him or have questions or concerns. Dr. DiOrio has made me feel very confident that I will be able to resume my active lifestyle and improve the quality of the rest of my life.
I was in pain for 5 years until I met Dr. DeOrio! I flew from Wyoming to visit Dr. DeOrio. Very professional and addressed all the questions I had and will have. My surgery was everything he said it would be and what to expect after. I am 2 months out and doing great! I wish I would have found Dr. DeOrio sooner. Thank you for giving me my life back! Dr. deOrio is a fantastic surgeon. He reconstructed my foot so that I was able to walk by replacing my ankle. I had seen a lot of other doctors before him and none of them could even come close to do for me what Dr. DeOrio has done. I am forever grateful to him. I don’t know where I would be right now if it wasn’t for him. I will be very sad if he considered retiring but very glad for him.
Dr. DeOrio replaced my ankle 12 months ago. I could not be more pleased with the result. Dr. DeOrio And his staff have given me excellent care. I am convinced that there is no one who could have provided me with a better outcome than Dr Jim DeOrio did, and I would recommend him without any hesitation to anyone considering him for ankle surgery.
I had my right ankle replaced by Dr. DeOrio on December 1, 2017. Within 2 months I was walking without any support and driving my car. The experience was 100% First Class--not only by Dr. DeOrio, but also his entire staff. I live in New Jersey and made a decision to fly to North Carolina and have my ankle replacement by Dr. DeOrio. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is considering having the same operation and I have already referred people to him.
