I received excellent care from Dr. Deorio & from Duke Hospital. I had sustained an open fracture of the ankle 18 months prior. Because of unrelenting pain, Dr. Deorio performed a total ankle replacement. I found him to be an excellent physician/surgeon.....he is very caring and compassionate....he listened to me & answered all my questions. I would definitely recommend him for any ankle surgery. (I am a retired RN)

Dr D`Orio replaced my ankle joint two years ago. I was almost crippled due to an injury I sustained in 1963. I couldn`t be happier with the results and with Dr. D`Orio and his team. At the time of my surgery, he had done over 900 ankle replacements, I suspect the number is around 1000 today. Cliff J. Judkins

Being a professional in health care you appreciate the ability of a skilled surgeon in your sudden need. Dr. DeOrio was that surgeon for us. Not only did he accommodate us but went above and beyond to keep us from having to wait an extended period for surgery. I appreciate the fact that he is to the point and honest.

I was born with high arches,but years ago I sustained tendon ruptures and underwent tendon reconstruction.Dr. DeOrio reviewed the x-rays, told me he would recommend bilateral vantage ankle replacements with some major reconstruction.He advised me,to do both ankles at the same time with Dr. Easley operating on the left ankle as he operated on the right.3 weeks in casts,3 weeks in walking boots,and I was out walking in regular shoes.After 4 months, I’ve played 5 rounds of golf.Thanks Dr. DeOrio!

I am a 60 yr old surgeon and have had seven previous orthopedic operations. From receptionist, to shuttle drivers, to nursing, to my surgeon I am in awe as to the compassion, personalized care, efficiency, and absolute skill that was devoted to my care. Dr. DeOrio, I have learned so much about quality care from you. I am better than I ever expected to be again. I saw ten different surgeons until I settled on Duke and Dr DeOrio. My foot doctor in Georgia sent me to Dr. DeOrio because I needed the best.. The 370 miles to Duke was worth it. I have had 14 different ortho surgeries. This is the only one that had NO complications, steps backward, issues. He listened to my history, and I felt total confidence in him. We have a relative that used him Florida and then moved to North Carolina and used him again and she loved him also.

Dr. DeOrio diagnosed the problem with my ankle quickly. I had been to three other orthopedic surgeons over the last year and none of them saw the problem with my ankle. Dr. DeOrio saw the problem in the x-ray and immediately decided on a treatment plan that fixed my ankle injury that I had been suffering with for a year.

Dr. DeOrio replaced my left ankle 4 years ago and I have had annual and now bi-annual check-ups with him. I went to him on the recommendation of a friend who also had an ankle replacement with him. I trust him totally. He is very good at sharing and explaining the x-rays with me. In addition to being an excellent surgeon, he a kind, caring person.
