I do not recommend. Carmax is a greedy corporate box store. The company stock price drop reflects their bad reputation Expect to pay about 4K more than market value for any vehicle they sell. If you are selling / trading in, the appraiser will look you in the eye and lie about the market value of your vehicle, then offers 12k less than the identical one on the other Carmax lot across town. No thanks!
CarMax in ********** **** sold me a 2020 jeep compass trailhawk around a year and a half ago and I have had NOTHING BUT ISSUES. This vehicle has been in and out of the shop since I purchased it. I filed a claim and got told they would assist me with trading it in for something safer, only to be offered thousands less than another dealer offered me. This vehicle has been nothing but a headache, and nobody actually wants to HELP me.
While I will say we enjoyed out salesman ****. Our overall experience with carmax has been considerably stressful. I needed a vehicle for my mom who's currently car had stopped working. We ended up getting a rental for her transit to and from work. We found a 2013 *** on the carmax website and began a transfer to our closest location. My mom is on the short side so we needed one that she could adaquestly fit in and drive efficiently and this particular car seemed to match her needs. Carmax banned in 2022 me for my paystubs and my bank statement saying its fraudulent. I was a graphic designer. Now I cant get a car loan anywhere because they put some type of flag on my name. I call customer relations and the lady said its no way carmax can flag my name. Which i think is a lie because I cant get a car loan anywhere. No loan company will pick me up.
CarMax is getting 1 ? because that is the minimum I could put. Looking at the reviews, I have no idea how they're still in business. I put of long off getting a newer better vehicle. I was given an online price subject to in person appraisal. I brought in my car and their in person appraisal matched the $3600 online price. But when I asked for a one week extension they dropped their price -$1,000/-28%. Just another bait and switch scammer.
Would not buy another car from them again. I purchased a 2017 **** Escape and I had to replace the alternator, cv axle, and ball joint within the first year. Was told from multiple mechanics that those parts shouldn't have went out thar fast. I fell behind on payments because of so many repairs. Once I reached out to the company, I was told they understood but it's not their problem. They didn't try to come up with a different solution knowing they sold me a lemon.
We began an online transfer and purchase on a vehicle via Carmax. To avoid dealing with sales associates and spending the day in the dealership once the car arrived, we clicked the online start purchase button for the express checkout option. For the purchase, we paid the transfer fee, provided all of the application information, chose and accepted the finance options, uploaded documents, and a credit check was ran. Went to the CarMax in *******, ** store today for test drive. CARMAX STOCK #********. FRAUDS!Website & sticker on car say the car has 10K miles. ODOMETER says ******. "*****" or **** the Sale Rep says, "you'd be OK if the car had < 10K thought right??" Nice customer service ????
