On September 12, 2016 I arrived at LAX at 12:30pm. I was able to caught the AVIS shuttle on time. The problem was I took me 2 hours before I was able to get the car because of the long line. Dropping off was ok, but upon reaching home in NJ, I found out that I left my Nikon camera in the car and I immediately call them. Thank God that they were able to find it and send it back the following day via UPS.
The only delay I've suffered is the endless wait at Avis. Arrived to find only 1 person behind the counter and 53 people (not including children or the people in the shuttle that arrived with me) already waiting in line. It took 23 minutes before an additional 2 workers arrived to start seeing customers.
It took three hours to get a proper car: - first car, check engine light was on. - second car: was apparently a myth. because I waited for over an hour and didnt got any. - third car was by getting the manager do work of the cashiers.
I rented a car for my wife in LAX. There was a 1 hour wait for the bus and another 1 hour wait in line to get to the counter. This is unacceptable. After reading all the reviews on here AFTER I heard about this, I am not surprised. I will never do business with Avis again.
Ok so we had a ok experience getting the car but dropping off was a nightmare we had a plane to catch and waited for a while with our small son and along with 40 other drivers dropping off then they told us to leave keys in car and they would email us receipt and they told all the others to do the same , so we did . Arrived at depot at 9pm to find a line snaking out the door. Moved two feet in 30 minutes. Nice welcome for the preferred customers over the loud speaker. Everyone else they could care less. I had prepaid at Avis and I still decided to run over a mile to Enterprise. I had a car in two minutes. They even comped my gas when I told them my story. Bottom line: Avis is garbage. If you have to be "preferred" to get decent service, nothing else really needs to be said. Avoid at ALL costs.
Prepaid my rental to avoid the long lines and go to the prepaid line. Guess what??? NO Prepaid window open today at LAX! In a line with about 100 people before me waiting over 1 hour already. Will never use Avis again! #avisnightmareatlax
Absolutely awful..... Took over two hours to get a rental car when I arrived. When I was leaving their buses to the airport took forever. I loaded my family on the bus when it finally arrived. I went back to get my other bags of luggage while my wife n two children were on the bus. Driver then tells me it's full n to get on the next bus their all going to the same place even after I explained to them my 3 year old n 1 year old were on the bus with just my wife n half our luggage. Awful service n will never use again
