I rented a car for an upcoming trip out of Denver, Colorado. When the Covid-19 virus shut down my state (WA) and restricted travel, the event I was traveling for cancelled. I cancelled my AVIS reservation a month out, due to event and trip cancellation. At the time I was told (on the phone) that they would reimburse their $50 cancellation fee. The rental car broke down immediately after exiting parking lot. Calls to customer service were ignored, outsourced, or rude. No help at all. I was able to make it back to the office where they made me stand in line for hours to get another car. while I was in line, another customer walked in the office with the same complaint, they immediately swapped out her vehicle. The second vehicle was supposed to be an upgrade, it was actually a downgrade, dirty, and bad steering. I will never rent again!

I rarely write bad reviews, but this place is a disaster. Shuttles at 10:30pm took around 45 minutes to show up at bus stop. Other companies passed in front of us 2-3 times each. The line just to get to the counter looks like another 45min. Customer service is also a joke, considering there's a 24h line, but you never reach anyone. Poor poor poor management. Going back to Alamo �

My husband is an 82 year old equine vetinarian who was traveling to Wellington Fl for the horse show. He has COPD. The CDC advised anyone over 80 years old to avoid flying. When I called to cancel the car I was informed that there would be a $50 cancellation fee in spite of the fact that the US is experiencing a pandemic and the cancellation was 3 days before the scheduled pickup date.
