I can't speak for anyone else's experience, but mine have all been very positive. I have received excellent care from Optometry, Audiology and efficient service from the Pharmacy. I love the fact that I can walk out of Optometry and walk upstairs to order new glasses the same day. My primary care team (Green) over at South Point has also been very good. No stars... this clinic is just the same as all the Va clinics.. They treat the veteran with disrespect. It feels as if the doctors are paid to be mean to you. They need to get rid of the VA hospitals and allow veterans to use any hospital they want.
Southpoint, Gainesville, Jefferson St., doesn't matter. This whole region just goes through the motions giving the bare minimum effort. Some of the individual techs are good, but the providers and administrative personnel are not very care focused. We earned better than this.
I have been taking my father n law to the VA red team geriatrics for over 4 years. He suffers from dementia and has trouble speaking. Dr. Janette Dunlop has been an outstanding Dr and resource to help us care for our loved one. My father moved here from Tennessee and I introduced him to Janette As well. My father's last words to me was the VA was the best gift I had ever given him. Janette was there for me at after-hours on a Sunday to help us call hospice in. They switched my doctor and cancelled ALL my scripts without prior notification (sinus/allergy, migraine, etc). When attempting to schedule an appointment for my migraines- which are partly triggered by my sinus and allergies, I can't get a nurse to call me back to set an appointment. What confuses me is the fact that I get phone calls, letters, and everything but a knock at the door when VA auto-schedules me for anything. I'd be grateful if you GET ME IN FOR THE TREATMENT I'M ACTUALLY REQUESTING please.

Great clinic! They are always very nice and helpful when I'm there. However, I'd like to see a change in the parking. It's kinda messed up that they don't have special parking for combat wounded vets like others, but instead have special parking for low emission vehicles? Why does someone with a Volkswagen Jetta have more privileges than someone with a Purple Heart? Doesn't make sense!
