BEWARE OF THIS PLACE I called there asking if anyone was good with color and they told me they have color specialists. Went the other night and the hair dresser (sean) burned my scalp so bad that my head was red for 2 days. Not only that he missed LARGE sections of my hair and now I have partial blonde hair with pieces of ORANGE and BROWN. Then charged me 125.00 for it. Such an ecclectic, funky place! I recently moved to seal beach and was looking for a new salon. AS soon as i walked by upstairs downstairs, i had to check it out. The young lady working at the reception desk was very helpful and kind. I had my hair cut by Holly, who did an amazing job!! my boyfriend gots his haircut by Jamie and he was soooo pleased! i highly recommend this place to anyone. it is funky. Eco friendly. The stylists are talented!! be sure to tell them that you are a new client!!

Great salon even greater stylist! Loved it! The salon, the atmosphere and most importantly... the stylist! Jacki was really great ,my highlights and cut came out so well!! I will definitely refer all my friends and family to her.
BEWARE BEWARE!!! I never submit reviews but I think everyone should know this place is a little shady, I went to Miguel 1st time he razored my haircut and it was horrible! I think all the great reviews you read are from them / salon cause they are never busy I'm down on main every other day and I know this sounds mean but he smelled really bad like smoke, after the cut it took sometime to grow out and I will never go back, try sweet 1017 up the street love them.
Miguel is awesome I had the best experience at Upstairs Downstairs Salon! Ive been getting extensions done for years, but never have i been as pleased with the results. He did an amazing job! i recommend him to anyone who desires great service and exceptional results!
READ ME!! This place is awesome for children and adults! I had my hair straightened and then i got extensions. I got this done by Miguel. The service is so good, and these stylists are so friendly and humorous. I really recommend them. They also have airbrush tattoos that are so cool and they can come off with JUST rubbing alcohol!
Funky Place with a salon full of artsy staff! if you are ever in seal beach, i highly recommend this place. it has it all. I went there just to look at the place, they had an array of art all over the walls. They had awesome music playing, as well as complimentary refreshments and fresh baked cookies.
