THIS REVIEW IS NOT ABOUT UNITED HEALTH CARE, IT IS ABOUT THEIR VENDOR OPTUMRX - In May 2017, I registered with OptumRx online pharmacy based on information recommendation for prescription savings from United Healthcare. I was asked for credit card information after giving doctor and medication information. I was told they couldn't process card and was not given a reason. Supervisor gave agent permission to submit order without credit card and I was told to pay online when meds arrived. Two months later and no meds delivered.... read more

First off, I never write reviews but I felt like this was absolutely necessary and that people need to know the truth about this company. I am a student at the University of Nebraska and due to unfortunate reasons I have to pay for my own health insurance. Luckily, UNL offers student insurance plans, which I have had since I was a freshman, and am now in my senior year. United Healthcare sent me two letters claiming that they paid money to me through Electronic Funds Transfer. I never had any direct deposit information with United Healthcare and now their resolution center is now giving me the runaround. The agent said he found it very strange that i would have direct deposit when no such information is in my profile.

United Health Care sent a letter threatening to cut off insurance which they contractually obligated to provide, unless the covered recipient went online and selected a website option that DID NOT EXIST. When called, the supervisor admitted that the threatening letter demanded that clients go to the user access website to select an option that was in boldface in their threatening letter,yet did not exist on the website. This company is total fraudulent. They make every effort to deny the claims. I am saying this based on my multiple experience not just one. Keep reading... I am an Acupuncturist and I am in network with United Health care and have been extremely dissatisfied and frustrated with the handling of many of my claims filed for patients. My latest frustration, which is going on 8 months now, is the "incorrect processing of claims" on their end. I have been told that there is a technical issue internally that is affecting the way the claims are being processed and until that is fixed I cannot be paid. I started a new job last September and signed up with Unitedhealthcare through my employer as soon as I became eligible in January. I use automatic payroll deductions to pay for it. In May I went for an annual wellness checkup assuming it would be covered so I was very surprised yesterday to find that Unitedhealthcare had denied this and also claims for prescription medicine that left me holding the bag for almost $500. OptumRX I guess you pay a price for convenience. One rep told me the manufacturer stopped making an Rx at 100 mg, so if I could wait, they could see if they could still get it at a lower dosage. Heard nothing, so I emailed. No phone call, no email returned. So I called again. This rep, who I could barely understand, just said the manufacturer stopped making it I explained that they were supposed to then send me the Rx at the lower dosage. So far, my impression of OPTUM is exhausting and I have found them to be completely incompetent on every level. I have spent several hours (literally) on the phone with them trying to figure out why they can’t perform a simple prior authorization for medication. They have all the info they need, yet continue, this time by claiming the process was not marked urgent, when I know it was, and even 3-way called in to the doctor.
