I am a policy holder, and so is my husband. We have had the same policies with Optum for two years. We have had the same service providers for two years. Yet every single month when I submit my claims, something goes wrong. I have spent more time on hold with customer service representatives than I have with my care provider. This complaint has to do with AARP medicare complete United. In Nov. I contacted them to dis-enroll me from there plan I was going with straight Medicare who I contacted on Nov 3 2016 . Medicare asked if I wanted drug coverage I said no. They sent me my card. On Nov 12 2016 AARP sent me a letter that I was no longer in plan as of NOv 30 2016 from my plan so believed they did . United Healthcare lied to me for over a year through eighteen customer service reps, all of whom strung me along with promises of "resolution and reimbursement will be issued in two weeks", etc., etc. I am now escalating this to an Independent External Review Board to finally receive my benefits. It has taken 6 weeks to get my medication shipped and it still has not shipped. I was told last week that I had no out of pocket expense and the medication would be at my Dr. office this Monday. I scheduled my appt for the next day at 4pm. On Monday morning, I received a call from Briova claiming there was an issue with my medication and they didn't have all of my allergies listed. As part of my UHC health plan, I am required to use OptumRX for certain prescription medications due to cost of obtaining it outside of the "preferred" use of the mail order pharmacy. On January 26, 2017 I spoke to an OptumRX customer service representative who accepted payment of $75 for my prescription. I waited 8 days for the medication to arrive in the mail. I have been trying to get them to pay my hospital and doctor bills (a little more than $500)for five months. I have surpassed my maximum out of pocket of $2000 but they will not do anything. I have talked to 6 or 7 people in the complaint division and they say they will look into it but they soon stop calling me or answering my messages to them. I dont understand how this company is even still in business. I filed an appeal for medication that my family physician wrote to me but the requirements for it get approved by optum is that must be written or in consultation with a mental health specialist. well my family physician is not a mental health specialist therefore optum is rejection to cover my prescription. The UnitedHealthcare portion of UnitedHealth Group has once again proven to be untrustworthy and dishonest. I submitted a review almost 1 month ago due to 3 years of misinformation and dishonest business practices. The worst pharmacy I have ever dealt with. Employees are rude over the phone and not helpful. It has taken over a month to fill a prescription, 3 weeks alone for them to realize we needed prior authorization from the insurance company. Not willing to help at all! Avoid this pharmacy!
