The Great Lost Bear has become a Portland institution since opening in 1979. The "Bear" is located about two miles from Portland's touristy Old Port but well worth the journey across town to the Mysterious Woodford's Area. The Great Lost Bear features an enormous eclectic menu with something for everyone: from hearty, spicy junk food to a large vegetarian selection, from steaks, salads and All American Burgers to award winning, wicked gooey desserts... all served in an entertaining atmosphere.

We had a very nice lunch on a rainy day. I had the Rachel which was very good (love the cole slaw), and my husband had chili nachos. He loved his (had to take half home). They were loaded and cheesy and crispy. That was my 2nd time there and would go back.
Great food and beer selection. Haddock sandwich is best in town - bar none (looking at you eventide).
The GLB never disappoints! Love the atmosphere, the menu, the food and the beer!! One rather large, cranky waitress can't even change that. Just be sure to dodge the ketchup bottle when she throws it at you.
The food was just ok. The place is small and they kind of cram you in. Nothing special. I wouldn't make the trip back.
The food is always good, the local beer menu is extensive, the waitstaff is always snarky. What more could you want? Excellent.
GLB never disappoints! Best nachos in the city and an unparalleled beer selection. What more could you want from America's best beer bar?
The service was excellent. We shared some wings and they were incredible. I ordered the Philly cheese steak and it was good, but the cheese sauce was a little mealy. It tasted okay, but it wasn't smooth and creamy as one would expect it to be. The only other complaint I have is that their alcoholic drink menu does not have a any prices on it, which is a bit odd.
Relaxed laid back atmosphere. Amazing burgers, good drinks, attentive staff.
Real cozy, even outside. Great music, nice people & amazing food!
