The Great Lost Bear has become a Portland institution since opening in 1979. The "Bear" is located about two miles from Portland's touristy Old Port but well worth the journey across town to the Mysterious Woodford's Area. The Great Lost Bear features an enormous eclectic menu with something for everyone: from hearty, spicy junk food to a large vegetarian selection, from steaks, salads and All American Burgers to award winning, wicked gooey desserts... all served in an entertaining atmosphere.

Best Buffalo Wings EVER! Great selection of local brews. Cool, dark atmosphere. Friendly staff.
Incredible pub/restaurant with massive choices of artisan beers. Food to suit everyone. Fantastic ambience with friendly staff.
A very nice, very friendly pub. Lots of cool beer decorations on the walls and ceiling. Great food-huge portions
Great food and relaxing environment! Great place to grab a beer and some grub
Food is good, rating two stars because the servers are always not good and seem to be very inexperienced, they never check back on you after you receive your food...forget about ordering another beer once your food arrives. Also, I've made special requests twice to have my fries cooked extra and they have never done it. The maitri d' always makes us wait way too long to be seated, last night we stood there for 5 minutes or more and the restaurant was barley at half capacity...go to a place like Outback to see how customers s... read more
Great vegetarian selections. Great beer. Allagash alley!
You should go! Food was delicious. Service was friendly and fun. I would definitely go back.
My husband and I stopped by today for his birthday. We ordered the Bleu cheese burger and the Rodeo burger. Both burgers were mind blowing. The fries were amazing, fresh cut not that frozen crap. My husband had a beer called Mr. Grumpy Pants, from Norway brewing company, which he liked a lot. I tried some mead from Ram Island (Maine Meadworks), Chai mead, absolutely delicious, I wish I had ordered more! The staff is very friendly. I highly suggest that everyone make time to stop in and try them out!
Great food and great service- literally the best meal I've ever had out somewhere!
