The Great Lost Bear has become a Portland institution since opening in 1979. The "Bear" is located about two miles from Portland's touristy Old Port but well worth the journey across town to the Mysterious Woodford's Area. The Great Lost Bear features an enormous eclectic menu with something for everyone: from hearty, spicy junk food to a large vegetarian selection, from steaks, salads and All American Burgers to award winning, wicked gooey desserts... all served in an entertaining atmosphere.

RecommendedOur server; Colton was awesome, he was very knowledgeable about the beers. We’d ask for suggestions and he was happy to make suggestions. Had a brown ale and a red ale which both were great!

The food and service was great. They have a large drink menu to choose from and there are enough food choices to make everyone happy! Everything was delicious, can’t wait to go back again!
What a great spot. Just moved to Maine recently, and was on the prowl for good bars. Excellent food, a staggering list of draught beers, and a very friendly staff coupled well with the classic bar atmosphere. Will definitely be going back! Four stars only because I thought some of the prices were a little high for the entrees, but I still really enjoyed myself.

I come here all the time. The hostess was terrible. She reassured me that when the rest of my party arrived that she would escort them to my table. I waited for over an hour to find that they were in line and were never informed that I was already there. Otherwise the food and drinks are great. I normally recommend this place.
So, my best friend and I ate there Thursday and it was absolutely incredible! I recommend the buffalo mac and cheese, steak fajitas and the hand cut fries with their home made cheese dipping sauce.
Very cool place. About 80 beers on tap. I had the "slab & crab & slab" sandwich......yum. Wife had a burger. It looked awesome but damn....way too big to eat. She asked for her bacon to be crispy...it wasn't. Yummy though. Staff was great. Parking sucks.
