The Great Lost Bear has become a Portland institution since opening in 1979. The "Bear" is located about two miles from Portland's touristy Old Port but well worth the journey across town to the Mysterious Woodford's Area. The Great Lost Bear features an enormous eclectic menu with something for everyone: from hearty, spicy junk food to a large vegetarian selection, from steaks, salads and All American Burgers to award winning, wicked gooey desserts... all served in an entertaining atmosphere.

Waitress lied to us about being shut off even after we pointed out that our bacon cheeseburger had no bacon on it . Then we went to bar and got served our beers

Everything, best place ever
The Bear has great burgers, soups, and the wings/tenders are the best around! The menu is vast and definitely has something for everyone! Let’s not forget the bar with unlimited microbrews. Also the best around. I love the Great Lost Bear!
My wife just picked up wings at the Bear... I have always loved the food here but today was pretty much the final straw. After 25 years of visiting this restaurant its probably time to shift gears. My wife stood there while some punk staff grubby kid complained that he hated to answer the phone, he then complained that take out orders are a waste of his time. I’m sure the owner of this fine restaurant probably should know people can get all their wings from Bingas! The service has always been sub par here.
Loved it. Food was great and good service. Can't wait to come back again.
