The Great Lost Bear has become a Portland institution since opening in 1979. The "Bear" is located about two miles from Portland's touristy Old Port but well worth the journey across town to the Mysterious Woodford's Area. The Great Lost Bear features an enormous eclectic menu with something for everyone: from hearty, spicy junk food to a large vegetarian selection, from steaks, salads and All American Burgers to award winning, wicked gooey desserts... all served in an entertaining atmosphere.

RecommendedFave restaurant in Portland
Nice atmosphere but lousy service. Slow, inattentive and not very friendly waiter. Our drinks went dry twice and the food took forever. Sad because family had raved about this place. Won't go back any time soon.

I have not been to the Bear in almost 10 years, and I am not sure If I will ever go back now. After having a less than impressive anniversary dinner at a place downtown, I thought i would be able to treat my wife to a good burger here. Wow, I was wrong. The burger was burned beyond belief. Inedible. To top it off, we ordered the tuna FISH sandwich for my daughter only to discover it's a Tuna SALAD sandwich with celery mixed in with the tuna. Good food, great beer, excellent service! Do you like amazing craft beer? Just tell the staff what you like about a beer and they will bring you your new favorite one! Portions are big and food is classic and delicious. It's a Portland institution!
Waiter not that friendly and the taco ensalada said shredded chicken. The chicken looked like it was just picked off the bone and put in the salad. No flavor- thought it would have been more like a taco salad .
