The Great Lost Bear has become a Portland institution since opening in 1979. The "Bear" is located about two miles from Portland's touristy Old Port but well worth the journey across town to the Mysterious Woodford's Area. The Great Lost Bear features an enormous eclectic menu with something for everyone: from hearty, spicy junk food to a large vegetarian selection, from steaks, salads and All American Burgers to award winning, wicked gooey desserts... all served in an entertaining atmosphere.

I had never been to The Great Lost Bear before and wanted to check it out cause I've heard good things about it. When we first arrived we had to find parking. There parking lot was full so we waited about 10 minutes until one of the other guest had left. Not a big deal, I mean it is Portland and I also expect trouble finding parking. Great food, drinks, atmosphere and staff. The selection of beers is awesome. A very good variety of food to choose from. They were busy, yet we did not wait long at all for our drinks or food order. The food was cooked just as we ordered. This is worth a drive even from Central Maine.

The food was pretty good. My wings were ok i guess but not great but my wife loved her fish sandwich. The deserts were really good though.
Great food, atmosphere & our waiter was professional & remembered our (4) orders without writing anything down!
Food is great but service extremely slow. Took 1 hour to get our food & anther hour to get checks.
The service was horrible and the food was cold and no one in the establishment really seemed to care!
Very good food, but super slow service. Our 15min wait to be seated was 25mins. Then waited 55mins for our appetizer while others who sat down after us got theirs. Once we got our appetizer, the other couples who sat down 20mins after us got their food as we waited another 25mins to get ours.
