The Great Lost Bear has become a Portland institution since opening in 1979. The "Bear" is located about two miles from Portland's touristy Old Port but well worth the journey across town to the Mysterious Woodford's Area. The Great Lost Bear features an enormous eclectic menu with something for everyone: from hearty, spicy junk food to a large vegetarian selection, from steaks, salads and All American Burgers to award winning, wicked gooey desserts... all served in an entertaining atmosphere.

Definitely my Go To place to have a phenomenal burger in an awesome atmosphere surrounded by the largest selection of local artisan beer... Sit at the bar and chat it up with Andy. He’s extremely knowledgeable about local brews and personally knows most of the brewmasters in town. Great guy.
One of our favorite places in Portland. Love that they are so supportive of the Maine breweries. Always a good time. Best wings!
We arrived at 6:30 and waited about 30 minutes in the extremely freezing entry way. The heater was cranking but the door was constantly opening. That said, waiter was friendly and efficient. Crab roll and coleslaw was delicious hubby said. Cheesesteak got rave reviews too. My carmelized burger was way past medium but ok. Will return but maybe not get a burger. So much more on menu to try. Oh very noisy energy-filled place!

Amazing beer selection, amazing food.
Holy moly....the wings. When I saw they were still "intact" I was nervous, but too hungry to not give them a shot. So glad I did. Hands down BEST I have ever had. For the record we had the barbecue flavor and didn't need one drop of the ranch we asked for. Moist, crispy, and the BBQ was nice and thin, but stayed on the wings perfectly and was sweet just like I like it. I'm a reformed wings snob! Thank you for broadening my horizons GLB.
Such a fun spot! We were in town for work and always looking for a place that has good beers and not pretentious. This is the place! Food was great, service was spot on! Can't wait for the return visit!
