The Great Lost Bear has become a Portland institution since opening in 1979. The "Bear" is located about two miles from Portland's touristy Old Port but well worth the journey across town to the Mysterious Woodford's Area. The Great Lost Bear features an enormous eclectic menu with something for everyone: from hearty, spicy junk food to a large vegetarian selection, from steaks, salads and All American Burgers to award winning, wicked gooey desserts... all served in an entertaining atmosphere.

I usually don’t do reviews but as someone who is in customer service, I was extremely unimpressed with the overall experience. My mother and two friends went to The Great Lost Bear on November 19th for the 21st birthday expecting to have a laid back and personable waiter. Little did we know that we would be placed with a man who was unprofessional and rude. Amazing food, amazing beer. Service was a bit spotty in the beginning but she made it up with quick food and drink delivery and delicious apps and meals. Can't wait to go back again! Wish we lived closer!
Fun atmosphere and friendly staff. Tower of beer was fantastic along with all the drinks. Food was good - love the vegetarian choices and gluten free options.
When you're group isn't sure what to eat/drink, head to the GLB. The extensive menu options and excellent beer selection will please even the pickiest.
