My plan terminated at the end of October 2019 because I left my employer. Aetna denied a claim for services rendered in October, alleging my plan was not in effect at the time. Their claims department apparently is so incompetent that they can't even tell when my plan was in effect. Their incompetence is simply unbelievable. Deny deny deny is what they're good at. Probably hoping people would just stay silent and move on. This company is despicable!

Aetna only cares about making money for its stockholders. They denied my cervical spine surgery a mere 5 1/2 days before my surgery! They are dragging their feet in order for me to pay another $7500-$8000 deductible, which I had already met for 2019. I jumped through all of their hoops before my surgeon suggested surgery. I am losing money from work lost now and in the future and am forced to file an appeal and just wait. Aetna does not care about your pain or adversely affecting your life. Avoid them if you can!

Terrible. Wouldn't use them if they were my only option for insurance. I would sooner pay everything out of pocket. I had coverage through aetna when my insurance changed due to an employment change my pharmacy still charged aetna. Pharmacy is claiming they can't reverse. Aetna insists that they can. In any case I was willing to just pay aetna what I owe. I called several times to try to make a payment. I was told they cannot take payments over the phone, or through an online portal. I have to use Aetna for my short term disability insurance thru my employer. I had a total hip replacement, my doctor sent in the required form to Aetna removing me from work for 2 months several weeks ago, but Aetna still has not paid me, they claim I am "under review". I cannot walk or work and they need to review my doctors notes? I haven't been paid in weeks and they keep giving me the run around that I am being "reviewed". Another reviewer said "aetna treats each member as a number," and this is literally true. In fact, they require each member to add a number to their username, a very atypical requirement, making it difficult for the members to use a typical username and causing extra impediments to working with Aetna. When I contacted customer service about this concern, they gave me a run-around, suggesting they might address it if I called, but when I called, the India-based representative was unable to help.

Aetna treats each member as a number. They have no compassion and do not care about the well being of their members. I have had numerous types of injections, 8 weeks of PT, and seen a pain management specialist which has all been covered and approved to some degree; however, when my orthopedic doctor recommends a fusion, Aetna denies it immediately. Sum up this company in one word, incompetence. Nadia w**** is a case manager who will not return your call or messages. Try and get her supervisor and you’ll get the run around until you get tired of waiting on hold. Employees need retrained and better staffed. Take pride in your company people.

Aetna Medicare should be ashamed of their customer service supervisors. One supervisor, Ayesha, outright refused to listen to a call from 4 days prior to gather specific information regarding a prior authorization that could not be located. The second supervisor, George who stated he was a medicare specialist, was very patronizing and belittling. I switched to aetna on 8/1/19 and now realize what I mistake it was. 0 stars!!! I am calling from a pharmacy and just need to get through to someone about getting an OVERRIDE done for a patient trying to fill a prescription. I have called 3x already and speak to someone overseas and they transfer me to who needs to do the override and they hang up on me or transfer me back to the overseas line. I have requested to speak to a manager and they say they do not have anyone available. Worst experience ever!!!!
