Aetna Medicare PPO denied a referral from the hospital for my father to go into a skilled nursing facility. The case manager at the hospital Aetna's notorious for this. The hospital has to fight with Aetna all the time.

Aetna did not provide the federally required ********* tax form in January. I checked their member website multiple times beginning in mid-February, and it was not there. I subsequently emailed customer support and I received no response. After another few weeks the form was still not available, since I still had received no response I emailed my university HR to see if they had the form, but no, they replied that Aetna was supposed to provide it to me, and they told me where to find it. I have been in contact with Aetna nearly once a month since 11/2019 regarding a 2018 claim. It is now March 2020 and I am still fighting with them to get everything straightened out. I call them and it seems like everything is good and fixed just to find out I have been repeatedly lied to and nothing has been done. This company misprocesses claims regularly. Fails to honor the terms of my insurance contract/agreement such as different coverage tiers and copays. The customer service is the worst I've dealt with and I have dealt with 4 insurance companies personally, professionally 6. Every time I call they have a new excuse as to why claims are being denied or processed wrong. No one calls back when they state they will. No one follows through with fixing misprocessed claims. I have called AETNA at least 10 times in the past 3 months trying to get my claims covered. Each time I call the rep says they will resubmit my claim and that I do have coverage - someone else just submitted the claim incorrectly. This has happened 3 times. Today I call to start from scratch again, since my last claim for denied (even though I had coverage) and the appointments were standard annual visits. We are new with Aetnathis year. Need to order ostomy supplies. Told we pay a 20% copay for these supplies. Called provider and was told they could place the order but couldn't tell us the cost, only Aetna could tell us that. Called Aetna back and was told only provider could tell us the cost. Explained situation to Aetna customer service rep and asked for help resolving problem and was told no one at Aetna could help me.

Wife needs diabetic supplies for her new meter that was sent to her for free, One Touch Verio Flex. Manual states deductible is waived for preventive services, which these supplies fall under. Even talked to rep who said deductible was waived. Second call to Aetna rep, deductible must be met. Doctor sent prescription to a Walmart pharmacy, which they added a new kit ( meter, case, lancet device) to her order of test strips and lancets ONLY. Aetna Medicare. I called the company 1/9/20 11:23 AM and spoke with a call center rep had the end of the call the rep did not hang up. When you call this company you are told not to hung up you may be selected to provide feedback. If the rep do not hang up before you do she stayed on the line I heard nothing but type for 3 minutes or so I laced the phone down waiting and after another minute or two I got a dial tone.
